Happy New Year ... addiction has no interest in days or occasions! Any advice appreciated..

Since the dreaded knock, our family member after coming out of prison has appeared to be doing OK- its only recently that he's been exposed ???? to texting another women again!! Countless affairs, the dreaded dip to what lead me to this site in the first place and now back to getting thrills with other women, whilst being supported by a loving family and wife ...

With being confronted his excuses are now because he hasn't been coping with haunts of prison/shame and depression- most would probably answer kick him out/forget him - but he is kind and loved and nobody can find an answer ????

When reading other posts, many have said its more than it appears - its suffocating/addiction and I believe most of these crimes are not dealt with correctly!

If anyone has any advice on correct counseling/rehab centre's,it would be much appreciated...when 'Rock bottom' is mentioned you would think prison ???? would be it -

Lost and don't know what to do anymore ????

Whilst hitting rock bottom might be the trigger for some addicts start the road to recovery, it isn't always. When addicted you simply don't care for the consequences for either you or others.

As with a lot of addictions overcoming them requires consistent work to accept, recognise and avoid triggers - These will be different for everyone. As will the reasons they might need/want to find solace in whatever their 'acting out' entails.

A prison sentence if very unlikely to have uncovered the cause/ reason for his addiction. Has he taken part in any therapy related to behaviours?

You might find looking at Paula Halls books and YouTube videos helpful if you haven't seen or read them already.

Paula Hall runs The Laurel Centre who have specially trained people that run both one on one sessions, couples, group and intense programmes.

There is also Sex Addicts Anonymous or Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous who run the 12 step program, based on yeh Alcoholics Anonymous framework - This might be helpful.
