Hi,

social services came round today and said that the probation worker has done a Lado referral and my work is going to be contacted. I work within the nhs and have currently been accepted to do my nursing top up degree. My dbs is all clear which was recently done. Does anyone know what this involves? I did disclose this to my manager at the beginning what my partner has been imprisoned for. She went on maternity, and I'm not sure she passed it over to my new manager. I have organised a meeting with my new manager to discuss it. Will this affect my work? I'm really scared about this if I'm honest. Any help would be appreciated x

Hi Mk,

My partner had a LADO referral due to his position of trust at work. Although we were not told about this until after the meeting had happened, some months after arrest.
I believe police, employer, HR, SS had a meeting to discuss risk. Work suspended him the following day, and it was decided my children would be put on a CIN plan.

I have read that if you live with someone on SOR it can show on your dbs but would be up to the local police in charge maybe?
you've been open and honest with work and if partner is in prison, I can't see how they would see you as a risk (even though we know it was his crime and not yours!) I think what they'd discuss is if he came to live with you after prison, even though again it is his crime not yours, they seem to use guilt by association x

Hi,

she said it's due to my position at work. He can't live with us once he leaves prison. She said it's because we are together. I just can't get my head around it. Is this an investigation about me? Just makes me think that they think I'm going to do something similar. Which I would never do. I love my job and I'm scared I'm going to lose everything.

Hi,

The first thing is to remember that you cannot be disqualified for association, the law changed in 2018.

The LADO will receive the referral and will hold a meeting with your employer, ss and whoever else is involved to find out information. They will be trying to see if you pose a transferable risk.
It's great that your employer already knows, update your new boss so everyone is aware. Have you done any courses/work? A safety plan you wrote? Give them to your employer so they are fully aware what you have done to manage the risk.

Do you have a union?
hopefully this can be sorted in the first meeting, but unfortunately it can go further if they think you are a transferable risk.

Yes I have wrote our a safety plan for when he comes out in February. I have done a safety plan and I am part of children heard and seen. I have done work with the SS. I can't afford to do any courses. I am not part of a union no. I haven't heard anything from work at all. This is not fair though. I haven't done anything wrong ????

It is terrible. Maybe contact ACAS, citizens advice and LFF helpline to see if they can advise?
im too scared to apply for a different position at work within the same company as it means an updated dbs, and partner is back home. It's so unfair x
