Hello Kt
Have you had any contact with the helpline? They have a young person's course that your son could do online- this would be with a trained professional for about 6 -8 sessions. The young person in our family found the course very informative and beneficial to do.
The support group could be of support to you too.
Thinking of you and your son.

Hello Kt
The helpline can be very busy, so a tip for you if it says something like 'we are very busy at the moment please try again later, dont hang up and just stay on the line as it will be answered eventually.
Many of the people on this forum use the helpline at different stages of their journey.
It took quite a while for the young person in our family to engage with the helpline but I spoke to them on a number of occasions to build up the confidence/courage needed for the young person to feel able to contact them.
It is good to hear you have a good social worker supporting you and the family.

Just wanted to add that the people on the helpline are very kind and helpful. I was nervous when I first called them but they were so good.
They know how hard this situation is for everyone.
As someone has said, the line can be busy. Hold on for as long as you can and keep calling, but be prepared to not get through immediately.

Get him ringing the helpline regularly if he will actually engage with it, as it should help him rebuild his life and reduce the risk of reoffending, and they can provide a statement that he has been engaging with it and how the service helps prevent reoffending.
The online modules on this website are good too and if he is engaging with them make sure he keeps notes of the work and for each module writes down what he has learned so he can prove that he has done it. Make sure he doesn't write down any offences that the police don't already know about though! Make sure the probation officer doing the PSR knows about this - but more importantly it should actually help him tackle the factors that contributed to his offending in the first place and avoiding ever doing it again!!!
