Moving house dilema

Me again..... so we spoke to solicitor this morning and asked because of my sons age at time of crime would there be any chance that the cps would offer a caution... solicitor said definitely not. We asked about asking for address and picture not being allowed by the press to protect my younger son...we can try but they can still print it..
So we are absolutely terrified of this being printed and would have to move out of the area. But was just wondering if anyone would know, if for instance my son moved out with his dad to rented accommodation until after sentencing surely they would be given that address and not our home address??? Not been charged yet, awaiting cps decision.

Hi,
I think they can print the address that he was arrested at. There may be an option to change his name prior to charges being brought, it may be worth exploring xxx

Ah OK thank you. This media worry is killing me xxx
They printed our home address when my husband was sentenced, despite us being told they would use the address he is currently living at. I have teenagers, and although the newspaper article was awful, my kids haven't had any issues. The school are aware and has been keeping an eye out for any problems, but it all seems okay so far. It was shared on FB, and lots of people we know have seen it. My kids know what happened, but I've protected them from the worst bits.
I think we may just have to ride it through and hope and pray it doesn't get printed in local paper. I'm not worried what people think of me and his Dad..my younger boy is only 10 so we can Sheild him from the newspapers and Facebook. I'm just scared for my son, we will just have to hide him at his Nans where he is staying now and move away asap if it gets printed.
Thank you for your replies xxx

We asked if it could not be mentioned due to our young children we was told it would be address currently at. At magistrates it was current address stated but at crown they named our full address that he doesn't live at. It did go in media but luckily no picture or address so there is some hope it just goes down to the journalists on the day because they can ask for it
The address where he was arrested/had the knock was mentioned in court - I don't remember the address he had moved to being mentioned. I guess it is mentioned because that is the address at the time of offending.
I don't really see the point in the address being mentioned, and then reported- especially if an offender has moved away since.
It is a gamble if media will be present, but we didn't get any media attention and I think it is because my partner moved to a completly different county and so no longer 'local'.

Oh Maij you would not believe how much I needed to hear that tonight. You are so right we are preparing for the absolute worst. But I asked the solicitor if there was any chance he could recieve a caution because of his age and she said "definitely not" which has made me so so scared. Thank you so much for your message we are feeling like the world is over for us at the minute xxx
My ex just had sentencing and the judge and prosecution agreed not to read out the address as he no longer lives here, and we have children.
It hit the local press the next day but just says "in the TOWN area", no pictures though but a lot of detail.
Im riding it out and have had only supportive messages so far. I love where I live and couldn't face moving . And I hope after the initial flurry things will calm down .
hopefully things won't be too bad for you, it's so hard not being able to predict or control anything x

We have relocated from the area where the arrest took place ( planned before all of this nightmare)partly because of the ongoing bullying and harassment which my person has been subjected to over a number of years.
We have requested that our previous address and the address he is living at now are not read out but apparently this can't be guaranteed.
I'm hoping that because he is no longer local to the area that the media won't be interested in reporting the case.

Hi kt,
We were also told by solicitors (more than one) there was no possibility of my son getting a caution because of the quantity and classification of images found (double digits) but they were wrong. We were incredibly lucky and it was all rushed through before his 18th birthday and he received a caution.
I had planned for the worst and didn't dare to hope that we would end up with the result we did. I suspect there's an element of postcode lottery, with everything I've read... no two cases seem to be dealt with in the same way. Don't give up hope.

Hi Welshgirl, that really does give me some hope, so glad your sons case got dealt with before he turned 18.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best I suppose xxx

Kt - The media zoning into your life is terrifying, I think we've all been through it.
in our case - my sons crime was blasted all over - even on local radio, we were mortified, my biggest fear was for our safety/home.
Our neighbours were wonderful - even asked how my son was (they knew he was no monster). Got a few glances here and there but definately nothing nasty. The only bad stuff was on Google and comments on police (fb)? was upsetting. But I try to focus on their complete ignorance....I closed my fb when my son was arrested and don't miss it!!!!
My advice would be to ride the storm a little, you don't want the inconvenience and expense of moving house if you don't have to. It really does die down quickly. Perhaps a name change might be worth considering.
hugs xxxxx
