So the police have been reprimanded over their dealings with bereaved families in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster.

They should add dealing with sex offenders, being honest and treating families as victims, to their 'list' of 'cultural change'.

We'll all agree, I'm sure, on that one.

Totally agree this whole experience is akin to a bereavement and they really need specialist training in how they treat families and partners

Totally agree.

I live in the Southeast where there is a lot of press in relation to the Met Polices culture of misogyny, officers not being vetted properly and the number who are under investigation for sexual offences & violence against women. If these are the kinds of problems that the institution has internally, how can they be expected to treat the families of sex offenders with any compassion.

I would love to be able to shout to the world the appalling treatment me and my children have had from the authorities (I'm a gobby cow), but there is such a shame related to these offences that any changes will come slowly.

The police are no longer the people I have any respect for, I am sure there are a lot of decent officers but this journey and the way it was dealt with has left me with no other feelings other than dislike for them ( I could use stronger words) x

Yes fine Thankyou. Not much to report - my son had a tooth out a couple of days ago which seems to be healing nicely. He's fine.

How's you?
