My son was given a community order last week and has an appointment with probation on Friday.

He has received a letter from probation stating that he has to attend an induction for his unpaid hours on the 10th which is a day when he is working and that this can't be changed except in exceptional circumstances.

He works on a rota and doesn't have the same days off every week and obviously he doesn't want to have to explain to his employer why he needs the time off-there is nothing in the PSR or the SHPO to say that he needs to disclose and he was not asked to disclose anything either when applying or at interview.

My concern is that probation will now try to force him to disclose which would mean him losing his job-surely they would want him to remain in employment?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello,

please contact "unlock" they have great advice for work related issues like this. What does he do as a job? He dosen't have to disclose anything. Explain to the probation team , I'm sure they will understand . Is there another day he can do his induction on ?

When applying for jobs in the future ensure your son looks for what level of dsb check they want . We have just been going through this with my son. I had to email the recruitment team myself to find out about the level of dbs before applying

Thanks for the advice he has an appointment with the PO on Friday when he will explain the situation and he can provide details of his work rota for the next month or so.

I don't really want to say what he does for a living as this is a public forum and I don't want anything to identify him.
