Moving to new rental property after conviction

Looking for some advice from people who have done this since their person was released from prison.
How difficult is it to move? Did you have to move somewhere remote incase of any backlash? It's such a difficult thing to navigate.
it's a family member so I won't be moving but I want to help as much as I can.
Is there anyone out there who can help with things like this? I feel like people are just left to deal with massive life changing things on their own.
Thanks everyone. Hope you're all doing ok.

It's lovely that you care enough for your family member to want to help them navigate life upon release. From discussion there will be support and advise available for your family member during the period leading up to their release. Is there a reason that they feel it will be necessary for them to move once released? x
I think the experience everyone received will different and entirely dependant upon their circumstances, but there 'should' be support prior to release.
In my person's prison this seems to being 8 to 6 months from release. My person old pad mate couldn't return home (wife was divorcing him) he was found his own house to live in for a set number of month. Anothet persons partner is being released to a hostel for 3 months with strict curfews.
I understand upon release decisions on where they can and cannot live will be down to his probation officer. I understand that once off their probation period has ended they can live whereever they want but the register needs to be updated - I was told when I called Unlock that the police visors do not have authority to say where someone can live or cannot, but I was told they may consider it in their safe guarding role that they need to let neighbours know. I want to call back and talk to someone again as this doesn't seem right..
I am interested in hearing anyone else's experience of post prison and moving whilst on probation. My person could come to my house but for various reasons it wouldn't work on practical levels for month than a couple of months max, but I'm concerned that once he's here, it'll be hard to get anyone to agree that he can move.

Thanks so much for the great advice and knowledge.
They wouldn't feel safe in the home they're in I don't think. The whole thing was quite public and on social media and they seem to want to move away for a fresh start but I think they're concerned that they'll be 'found out' by people if that makes sense. It'll be mainly paranoia but I guess if someone googled him they could find stuff.
It's all just such a massive worry and upheaval isn't it? The wider implications of these crimes are beyond what anyone could ever imagine.

I'm concerned about this too, I feel that we'll always be looking over our shoulder - My person was in a few different newspapers. He plans to change his name upon release, but there will always be that chance. As you say the impact of these crimes are far reaching.
Post sentencing which was suspended, it was the police who objected to a move my OH wanted. He wanted to move to a family member miles away. Probation and our visor agreed, but his probabtion officier was told he could not move as the police in the new area objected. No reason given. Was told he could move once off probation. I have no idea how being off probation will make it ok to live somewhere where the police have previously said no to! Not sure if they make the rules up as they go along. My OH would not question it which annoyed me as i wanted the space to get my head around everything.
Once you are no longer under probation, unless the landlord triggers some kind of check (some housing associations/ councils may do), the only restrictions that will apply are any geographical restrictions in the SHPO. You do not need to notify the police before moving, you just need to register the new address within 3 days as per notification requirements.
