So our favourite tabloid states tax payers money has been wasted by a sex offender programme tried in several prisons. App no good as most go on to reoffend anyway . Of course a generous dusting of all the words we hate.
The whip up of hate just makes my blood boil - never state stories of rehabilitation success just put these men in the stocks.
Never think about these men being or have been previous tax payers! My son paid tax for 20yrs before he went to prison.
The witch hunt just is abhorrent, not just in these cases but we all know of the horror they've caused in the NB case. Not a dot of concern showed for families as per usual.
rant over.....

Hi Daffodil- was in the 'S' tabloid.
The trail was over 13 prisons with (over) 100 sex offenders, there's all sorts of facts and figures but of course they focus on its reaffending percentage.
it was called 'Healthy Sex Programme'. Of course the heading was 'Perv lessons'....

The tabloids are only worthy of the bottom of the cat litter tray x
Hey Smile,
Hope you're okay. Of course they're going to say that, they love to use articles about things like that to drum up some anger. Perhaps the course wasn't helpful and maybe the real story is the government giving funding to their mates who have no idea what they're doing and to services which aren't fit (just like the covid contracts) but that would involve real journalism and investigation which that rag isn't capable of. I came across an article yesterday from Circle who are a group who work with offenders (serious sexual offenders) and their work showed a very positive outcome from supporting and working with them instead of ostracising them and making life more difficult.
If you feel really strongly about the article you could write to them and ask for more information about it and question their motives, they have a duty to report accurately and in the interest of what the public need to know, not tell lies or have their own agenda xx

I read this article too.
They seem to be annoyed money is being spent on these people that commit these crimes. What would they rather? P or not they all need help to ensure more children are not put at risk.
Ultimately most offenders, of any type of crime will be released and I'd rather know they'd been through rehabilitation before they did. Ther are far worst ways to be spending our taxes - As BaffledB has said - Giving their mates money.
It's a short sighted article, aimed to promote hate and in no way goes towards making children safer.

Exactly SAL.....it's like the frenzy of stories over Gary Glitter's release - they are obsessed - there's no sensible or serious discussion.
They just home in to any opportunity that gives them chance to whip up that distrust and hate, it's so unfair.....

Hi lovely ladies,
I was reading something today about how this crime is increasing the statistics show over 30,000 cases between 2021 and 2022
Where my son is they don't offer any programs they used to have group discussions (before my son was there) but they got cancelled as they said these create issues as they can learn from each other how to offend! wtf
When my son had the knock he paid for a private one to one from someone who was recommend via LFF , they had weekly therapy sessions and it really was helpful to him, this was for 16 months while under investigation then the second knock and since then nothing
The media like to portray our loved ones and this just adds more fuel to the fire,
I would pay out of my own pocket for him to receive some rehab while in prison
He was a tax payer before this and never claimed any benefits xx

Upset - my my, if those discussions didn't work - surely try another method it's not rocket science!
I too desperately wish my son could do 'something' to address his behaviour, back to the beginning and how it developed and how to handle it in the future.
I bet it all boils down to cost!

Smile hope you are doing ok, and of course your son xx
I dont understand it at all ,
He will spend years inside and thankfully has made some friends but talking to him once he is released he cannot stay in contact, one guy was released last month who he got on with but he is not allowed to write in to my son
He will have no friends when he has served his time but yet they are not allowed to keep in contact with people they spend all their time with and build friendships with who can support each other, x

I get myself in to a state of panic when I try to think of the future but it is out of our control as was this journey but yet we are here and so are they , I just got off the phone to my son and he is ok xx

Upset - I 'try' to not think about the future, like you say for us it's a long way off, but you do!!!!
The recent blip we had completely knocked me for six and I'm still feeling down to be honest, but we gather our strength from somewhere don't we?
yep my son is ok and upbeat, which makes you feel better and stronger x

I hate the blips, I had mine a few weeks back and it makes you feel so crap, but we are allowed to have these moments considering what we have been through we cannot always be so strong
We get through each day, as best as we can
You are incredibly strong so never loose sight of that xx

Smile - its hard not too think about the future for our boys. Stay strong, we can't change anything but just take each day as it comes. One day we will have peace in our life again xx

People think, when in prison inmates gather and discuss in detail why they are there and as you say (could) develop their behaviour traits.
Apparently this is not the case and no one discusses each other's crime, if your in a general prison for a sexual offence as a rule your segregated.
My son tells me you wise up to who you've 'got to be careful' around/trouble makers, but most support each other all the way. A little 'trading' goes on, my son was so excited to get a beanie which cost him a box of teabags (not exactly gangster stuff)!!!! It's no doddle in there but People have so many misconceptions about prison, like they do about sex offenders I suppose........
