Hello, I was just wondering if anyone on here was a healthcare professional as I need some advise.
Just wondering if you ever told work for support with leave or just so they knew what was going on. I have mixed messages about whether or not I should do this as some say it could affect my job?

I'm not a healthcare professional however I work very closely with. I told my boss "somethings happened" and that I'm going to need some support for a while but that I won't take the mick. Thankfully, my boss is amazing and this was sufficient for my boss to offer me support and leave without asking any questions.

I do understand that not everyone is in this position so I'm not sure how much help it is for you, sorry. I just thought I would share my experience.

Sending you warm hugs x

Yes I am. When I went out sick a few months after the knock when it all hit me I got doc just to write on sickline my back was bad or you could get them to write stressful situation. You do not have to tell work. I told one person who is my bosses boss and she was great. She said it's my private business and as long as I'm happy working or ghoing back to work she was happy. They even offered more counselling and physiology referral. I k ow a lot of people here have had problems with work but I honestly don't think it's nessrsary to tell l them. You've rid nothing wrong. I'm a nurse who works with pregnant ladies.

I'm a student nurse (1st year). I was really worried about DBS because it's an enhanced check so I told uni, the DBS came back clear, uni are really supportive and they haven't told my placement trust.

Yeah I've only told one friend at work but no one else but worry if I need time off work when it hits me sometimes or when he goes to court

Hi,

Am also a healthcare professional, some in work know as it hit the local rag! I have never told my manager or anyone in an official capacity. There are some colleagues/friends who know and have supported me throughout.

It really has taken it's toll and has been and still is the heaviest thing to carry around if that makes sense.

Thinking of you Cornish Tea

I am a healthcare worker and.. it's not been great my colleagues don't know so they do t filter what they say which can be hard to hear at times.

managers have been tricky I told them for support but anything with child sex offence and they can't seem to think rationally! I've had some restrictions on what I can do, which has been a ballache and I've recently found out the proper processes weren't completed but not much I can do now although I have asked for this to be reassessed.

Every week I think I'm going to end up going off sick but then I think no! I've done nothing wrong. Xx

I work in healthcare, my manager has been very supportive.
It appears on your dbs after your partner/person is convicted if they live with you-although my manager said this wouldn't be a problem. Just an advisory note.

our sw referred me to the LADO because of their involvement, after this I have not be able to work in my capacity for a year now. I was also referred to my regulator due to me supporting my partner.

now my oh is home and ss is getting sorted, work are being very risk averse and taking their time at sorting out me going back to work.

They have given me work and paid me full, but it makes me so angry.
My oh was convicted, sentenced, has work, is home. I have done nothing wrong and my career has gone up the shitter

Oh GZ I'm sorry to hear work are being so risk adverse, can I ask what grounds other than supporting your person they referred you to the regulatory body? I have plainly said to them what risk am I? Not him ME? Have they moved you away from children facing work?

For failure to safeguard my child, because ss escalated us to cpp and then plo.

now we are out of plo and oh is home, the regulator has closed the referral but work is dragging their feet. Yeah I'm not allowed to do patient facing work.

I have also asked this, they said the risk is that I could be coerced by my oh

Hi GZ

hope things are better for you now! Are you back at work? Do you mind me asking what your partner was convicted of and how old your children are?

Thanks

I was a healthcare worker when we got the knock, fortunately I had a very good relationship with my bosses and was able to be open with them. It didn't affect my job at all as I was not the accused. Before we knew the full seriousness of his offences a year on I was maintaining contact with him as a family, though he had denied the accusations at that time. I've had to leave my job due to my mental health now but I've been told I'm welcome back at any point.

I didn't tell my work for ages and finally did and my manager is so supportive and is the only higher up one that knows. Some of my colleagues that I am close with know and have also been supportive. I was referred to OH and they told me to go my GP and I am now on the waiting list for CBT. I was off sick for 4 months with stress but was months after the knock. I have now been back at work for a few months and experiencing some health problems and they're also super supportive with this and have even been take off nights for now. I also have monthly update chats with the manager.
