Cps waiting time

Good morning ladies. My sons case has been with CPS since early January. Due to go back to police station end of march I'm guessing to extend bail. But just wondering typically how long have people waited for cps decision and how we will find out please? I know it's different for different areas, we are NW area xx
We were told 2-6 months it came back in about 1.5
Thank you for your reply scsredandconfused.. so we could potentially hear any time now.. how did you find out decision? Xx
Did they not give you a rough time? I have seen a few on here that have waited alot longer. My oh was contacted from his solicitor on the Friday to go in and collect charges on the Monday from the station he went alone his solicitor said he wasn't needed for that bit
I forgot to say he had his second interview before it went to cps because they have to go through what was found that was different to first interview. My oh was told everything he said was correct apart from the categories but my oh states he don't remember these. Also the age was confirmed but then on charges and sentencing the age changed again to alot younger again oh is adamant that his never seen anything with that age
No they didn't give us a time limit apart from my son to go back to station end of march. He had his second interview beginning of Jan and that's when they said it will now go to cps. Xx
Agh ok. They won't rush we was told it can be looked at in a hour a week month even a year just when they want to. It's so unfair they don't care about the families waiting too
The unknown is just awful isn't it. I fear my son has ruined his future before his adult life even begins. I'm so bloody angry with him. Xxx
My OH hasn't had any contact from the police or his solicitor since the knock. We contacted the arresting officer about travel restriction and were told at that point that the case is now with the cps. Had we not contacted them then we would not have been told. I find that a bit strange and unfair. OH hasn't had a second interview or been told what's been found on device or what came back from the sites which OH was using. They also didn't say how long cps was likely to take either so we just have to wait.
Could it be possible that they didn't find anything else/more and are just going with what they initially arrested him for?

Hi Rig22, I haven't heard of anyone not having second interview, I'm really not sure what that means. Sorry I can't be of any help, hopefully someone has same experience that could offer you some advice. Xx
Hi KT we are in NW too. Can I ask how long it has taken to get to this point please. My son only had devices taken beginning of Dec police said 4 months for them to be looked at which takes us to April, but all advice seems to be that timescale is unrealistic. I totally hear what you are saying about ruining his life before its started. My son is 19 and I dont think the enormity of this has hit him. I dont think he realises how it will affect his whole future. To be honest I am happy to leave him in ignorance until he has to face up to what they find.
Hi Rig22 and Kt we did not have a second interview at all after having the knock in December 2021 and my person being RUI .
We received the charges by letter in October 2022 and sentencing took place in January this year.
During that time period we were not given any information whatsoever from the OIC despite our phoning for updates and were just told that these things take time-at the time we were in the South .

Thank you ladies for the reply. It's been 8 months since it all started for us and perhaps a month or more since it went to cps. I say a month or so because we don't actually know when the file was sent to cps. They just said you can travel and your case is now with cps and nothing more.
Hi another worried mum..so our first knock was May 2022 the police said it would take about 2 months but second knock didn't come until 8 months later, son was then arrested and had second interview they told him then it was being sent to cps. So from first knock until now it's approaching 10 months, due to go back to station last day of march as that's when bail ends. It's just horrendous isn't it, I really hope this doesn't define our sons lives . Xx
Hi Seaside, thank you for that info, hopefully we get something by post before we have to go back to station, dreading this unknown dragging out for many more months xx

Thanks KT , its just so hard waiting. My son is at uni we have to sort out next years accom but we dont even know if he will be there. Police told him to just carry on as normal until they get back to him, which we are encouraging him to do, just get his head down study hard but I domt know if im giving him false hope
I would continue to encourage him to study, the waiting is horrible and we feel like we can't plan anything so I understand completely. My son has had to move into his grandparents because I have a younger son. Although ss have now said no further action needed from them so that's something at least. He was allowed to carry on at college as normal while under investigation but as soon as he was put on bail he was unable to attend as there are under 18s there. The college safeguarding team said they were happy for him to go back they just had to check with the police so he didn't break any bail conditions and that's where its come to a dead end, the college are just not getting an answer so it looks like he has now lost his place. Xx
I do try to be sympathetic with what my sons life is now going to be like but I find it very hard because there are real victims to these crimes and I'm so angry with him at the moment. I just wish he was dealt with at the time when he was still a minor himself. Xx
Sorry went on a bit there didn't I lol xx

No KT I totally get it. There is no one to blame but themselves. It is so self destructive. No under 18s at uni, but we dont know what we are dealing with yet. I hope your son has a positive outcome and lives a good life that will make you proud. That is what I hope for my son x
Thank you another worried mum.
Hopefully you don't have to wait to long to find out what you are dealing with, in the meantime keep going and continue your sons uni plans for sure. Keep me posted how you are getting on xxx

You're absolutely right Daffodil, I really needed that reminder that he was a minor at the time, I just sometimes get so consumed with anger. Its just so wrong that they can also print in the media about things done as a minor, so unfair xx
Our knock came in November 2021. We are still waiting. We are in South East.
My OH evidence got sent to CPS back in October, we still haven't heard anything back, bail been extended every month since. Next date is 15th March, OH can't live at home or be with kids unaccompanied, it's been so hard, the not knowing or being able to do anything, we're in NW. Really hope something happens by the 15th.
