Plea hearing

So after nearly 2 years My son has got his plea hearing on Wednesday this week. The solicitor said they have not seen the evidence yet so it's possible he'll need to make a no plea. I can't go with him as my anxiety is through the roof now and I just can't do it. Can someone tell me what happens at a plea hearing and is there likely to be media there (my absolute worst fear). I just want this all over with now.
My oh plea was at magistrates he had already pled guilty from the start so the plea hearing was no different. He spoke to his solicitor first went over everything she basically said she was going to push for it to go to crown because magistrates aren't as good at dealing with it and she was worried they would see a big case and give him the 12 months custodial they could give him. He did his plea no details were mentioned they sent him to crown he was in there ages but they was seriously behind but once he was in he was out within ten minutes they gave him the information to sign the register (within 3 days) and that was it . Media can be there but I think it's mostly at crown if they do turn up as it's bigger cases
How many weeks was it from magistrates to crown x
It was 3/4 weeks after
