An enormous sigh of relief today - 22 months since my son got the knock, he was finally sentenced. Community order, 5 years SOR, no SHPO.

I'm not sure 'happy' is the word to use under these circumstances but right now it's pretty damn close; setting off for Crown Court this morning with his prison bag is not something I ever wish to go through again.

I have hated him at times but I'm proud of the work he's put in to maintain his degree studies and his job and the therapy that he continues to have; this, coupled with some strong character references definitely helped his case.

Enormous thanks to absolutely everyone on here for being the lifeline; just knowing that I'm not alone in this awful journey and for having people who understand the very unique set of emotions that accompany this crime.

I know that not everyone has such a positive outcome - hugs and strengths to you all xx

Thank you, lovely ladies xx

Another worried mum - he switched to Open University, although when it first happened his Uni were really supportive and gave him the option to stay. Although he didn't get any hassle, it was fairly well-known and we were worried about backlash so decided to switch. xx

Thanks for the reply lola. It is encouraging to hear his uni was supportive . I know its not really the end(will it ever be) but you are in a place you can both move forward with positivity and I long for that day. Good luck to you both x
