Hiya.
As far as the forensics take ours took over a year to be looked at so they can take there time.
Best thing to do is no contact we we're advised at the time all communication to go through solicitor because they don't have to tell you anything over the phone but solicitors can push to find out a little more and it looks better not to bother them.
As for you being left with their devices. My oh let me use his phone new his password everything and still had this all going on so I'm sorry if it sounds blunt but I wouldn't use that as a positive because my own stupidity on the morning of the knock told the police how can he do that I use his phone and know password they was all surprised that he let me use it .
I can't really give anymore advice but unfortunately it's just a long waiting game . Hopefully your person is doing work on themselves it's one of the main things they look for at court

@justkeepswimming, I am so sorry you're going through this.
Does your person have a lawyer? I would advise for his lawyer to contact the OIC. You shouldn't really be in contact with the police.
Did the police also arrest the landlord or take any of his landlord's devices?
If not, what reasoning did they give to focus on your partner?
I am afraid this can take a long time. 2 years and longer isn't unheard of. Stay strong x
