No respect for any of the procedures involved throughout these scenarios.
If I did my job so inaccurately I would be sacked. In other proffessions people would die from incompetence.
Hold them accountable Daffy. We refuse to lie down and be afraid!

Daffodil, The incompetence is horrendous im sorry you are having to deal with this.
when I read your advice you really give me the strength to continue to fight hard for my son, I just hope his solicitor is as strong as you. I also hope one day when we are further through this process I can also give advice to others going through this. Love the way you don't sprinkle glitter on a turd, your straight talking is just what is needed so thank you very much for advice you have given and continue to give xxx

Hello Daffodil
I am so sorry that this has happened to you and your son, but it does not surprise me at all.
I can only agree with you completely to check and double check all official paperwork, we know this very much from experience.
The young member of our family had an incorrect date on one of his charges by exactly a year (this unfortunately was a typo error that was missed by us and our solicitor)
We only realised the error after the young member of our family had been sentenced. Once we pointed out the error, we were shocked that it took over 6 months for the police (and CPS) to come back and say the only way it can be changed is to go back to court to change this date which is clearly a police admin error with potential of re-sentencing as it it not looked at as a simple admin error in the eyes of the courts! This is not a course of action we wish to take, so we will live with the police's admin mistake.
Just wanted to share this with you all, because if I could go back in time I would look over dates on the charge sheet more thoroughly - it is a very stressful time so it's quite easy to miss it. I urge you all to check dates and make sure they are correct as once it has been to court, it is not easy to rectify.
I hope this piece of information helps at least one person on here.
Daffodil, I hope that you are able to correct the errors that have been made on the paperwork easily for your son.

It felt like a mad rush between the charges being set/received to the sentencing and the solicitor was useless.
The charges gave the wrong date of the arrest (which worried us thinking it would imply my partner offended again after an arrest), they had his address wrong for court. And the solicitor was too late to question/remove the no contact clause from the SHPO.
Such things need to be addressed asap a d in advance of court appearance. The judge on the day of my partner's sentencing basically saw these errors as wasting their time as an addition to just passing a sentence and even criticised the CPS/police for their errors and also the solicitor for not sorting it sooner.
We let the date in the charges slide (only out by a month), but have been told my partner has to wait until five years into his SHPO to try to remove the clause that isn't applicable to his offending

Hi Daffodil
Thanks for your response. There was no way we were going back to court to change an admin error the police had made (and accepted they had made it) . The truth was there was a catalogue of errors which we raised and were addressed, unfortunately we missed this one date.
The compromise was the police wrote a letter of apology for this error happening and that was the way we could move forward. We had to request this course of action in a complaint letter, it was not done off their own backs.
I really hope you get this sorted simply and quickly.
