Hi,

Hope you are all doing ok. My husband had court today. This was the third time it was then continued as the police hadn't sent the forensic report to the police. The reason stated was that they want to retract some things on it. Has anyone ever heard of this our know what it means? The solicitor has said that we can put them on notice and that if they don't have it through by the next date it will be thrown out. All over the place here.

Hi Rachel

We have had many changes of the evidence redacted items stuff getting uploaded by CPS night before trials then adjournments but was told they never had that evidence then it magically appears backdated.

Hi Summer,

Thank you. It just seems so disorganised. The court where my husband has to go to is running a pilot scheme and the solicitor is saying it makes things worse.

I think there should legally be a set amount of time for them to produce their report before a court date. It is such a stressful time, that people need to time to analyse it and get expert advice. My partrner got his the evening before when he had to plead, and that certainly impacted his decision making. It clearly meant his plea wasn't really an informed plea. It felt like an abuse of process, trying to game the system to put on pressure on people who are in a vulnerable situation. They will argue that only gulilty plead guilty, but human nature prooves otherwise, and throwing in incentives to plead guilty such as a lesser sentence muddies the water. Anyway, there was stuff written in his that was a bit dubious to say the least. After the fact, I got an independent forensics advisor to look over it, there were concerns, and had we had time to get that advice before the court date, they could have been raised. I think the outcome would have been very different. Anyway, it seems I'm still bitter after all of these years.
