Today I visited my husband, only my second visit since he was sentenced. The first visit where other family members were also visiting their loved ones. Some shared this to be their first visit. We smiled, we helped each other, we laughed and we chatted. We shared an unfortunate bond but I left today feeling that our crossing of paths was strangely quite special.

I'm so happy to hear that your visit was a positive one and it felt special because of others. I can agree with it being a special bond we all share. It was My first visit in 4 weeks since my partner moved prisons on tuesday and I was so nervous. Other family members visiting their loved ones helped me calm down and we had such a lovely conversation. I have felt so alone since he was sentenced, the prison visits and everything involving prison has been so stressful for me especially after he was moved but it was such an amazing feeling speaking to others who are going through the same thing and could give me advice. It really put me at ease and I actually got to enjoy my visit with him instead of worrying x

Has your partner settled in ok Leesha?
As we've said recently - I think a prison move is more fearful/stressful for us on the outside.

I can really relate to this. My first visit there was a lovely lady with a warm smile also visiting, she recognised it was my first visit - She mad that first visit and ones after so much easier. I will forever be grateful for the people I've connected with - Often very little is said, a knowing look, a warm smile, a tender huge. Similar to this forum its nice to know you are not alone, that someone understands.

I think Upset Mum said in a post - I wonder if any of us visit the same places, have given or recieved that smile to / from another member of the forum.

Glad you had a good visit, somehow something that was so alien and unnatural becomes the almost normal.

He has really settled in well thank you so much for asking :) , they quickly got him into classes and courses so hes been very fortunate to be honest.
Oh it definitely knocked me more on the outside because it went from him sorting everything in the first prison to me doing it all now but we're starting to get our routine going so I've felt so much better this week especially after seeing him and having that first visit there with all the lovely people really made it less of a scary experience!
This has definitely taught me to never judge anyone and I will forever be grateful for this forum of amazing individuals and for those people on my visits xx
