Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of using a pre-charges solicitor and the outcome, be it positive or negative and if it helped.

Just clutching at straws for anything that could help for what could be coming :(

Thanks ????

Hi, I didnt know about pre charge solicitors but I do now. They deal with police and CPS from the first off apparently and go through background, history of what and whys and generally gather as much info as they can before any charges, to try and limit potential damage I think (I hope:().

I think that's right unless anyone else can advise :) xx

Yes we are in the process of hiring a solicitor who does this "pre charge" work for our son As you will know its expensive but we have decided on balance to go with it. We have no experience to draw on so just going with our gut really. I will report back when its all over to share our experience in case it ever helps anyone.

Our solicitor deals with the day to day running of stuff - but they are not 'pre charge'.

I'd be careful- them finding out background etc is something they do once charges are brought anyway so that they can mitigate.

CPS won't haggle with solicitors unless charges are brought and it's evidence based.

I'd hate for you to throw money at something that isn't productive xx

Another worried mum, yes we're the same as you in that we're trying for the best possible outcome and more information as possible before the sh*t hits the fan :(

Daffodil, we think it's a communication charge, that's what the knock was for but no 2nd interview and just been told gone to CPS. Not sure if that means still the same charge and nothing extra found ????.

Hi Betty - my husband had a second interview after devices were checked but BEFORE it went to cps, this is because his first interview was a no comment (iioc) so I suppose it is a way for him to talk / them to get him to talk. It was at this point they told him what the charges were. If you contact the oic you can ask what charges they have requested from cps. It's unlikely the cps will disagree at this point.

We are post sentencing and I agree with daffodil, it does sound like any other solicitor. It does sound like a waste of money if you have a decent solicitor anyway x
