Transfer
Notifications OFF
Good morning everyone, hope you are doing ok today. My husband has been transferred to another prison as we expected. Although prison personnel contacted me upon his arrival to notify me where he was and that he was ok we are now waiting for processing of information; so yet again we are unable to call as we had been. My question is does his prison number transfer with him for me to be able to write?

Hi, and yes, their prisoner number stays the same when transferred to different locations. It was also explained to me that this is their number for life, so if they are imprisoned again in the future (god forbid), they will retain the same prisoner number. Sending strength back your way too.
Sorry to hear he's been moved, you've had a really tough start on this journey. I hope it settles and the move is a positive one for him.
I can confirm what has been said in the above post.

Hi Life feels over
As already said yes he will have the same number x
Has he been moved nearer to you? I am guessing it is an SO prison, he will settle ok and hopefully be able to phone you soon x
How are you bearing up?x

Hi - So Tired - hope your ok. A move is stressful. I was out my mind with worry each time my son was moved. Although a long distance I hope he isn't uprooted yet again.
im sure your husband will be in touch soon.....,, x stay strong x
Upset - well done to your son, bet that's given him a boost!

Thank you for your replies. We expected a move at some point as he was in a Cat B he's now Cat C; thankfully still a short travelling distance. The wait for him to be able to call again is painful, 4 days feels like forever. x
Hi - I'm sure you will get your call shortly. It is horrible waiting for the phone to ring, bless you x
My son is in a Cat B but it's being changed into a Cat C. It's only when the B's are moved, they can 'open up', as we know anything in prison drags on. I said he'll be released before it's down graded !!!!!!
Good luck, fingers crossed you'll get your call xxxxx

Hope you ok life ? Have you been able to have a call as yet?xx
@upset no not yet and it's driving me to distraction. I've emailed safer custodies at the prison to request an update on his welfare. I'd be stressed anyway but given he is recovering from his heart attack it's literally unbareable. He moved Monday. I don't understand why it's taking so long. x

Such an unesssasary worry for you considering his health issues previously
Hopefully he will be able to call Monday as we know how slow things take in prison
Sending hugs xx

I'd definitely give them a ring and explain about your worry with his health issues. Surely they would understand and prompt a call.
Rang Safer Custodies this morning and they were very helpful. He said there was nothing logged on the system to be concerned about explained that transfers from private to public sector require all checks to be completed again as the systems aren't compatible. I then received a letter from my husband written 6 days ago explaining the same. I can now breathe and hopefully sleep x
Ahhh, that's good, let's hope it gets sorted and you can settle a bit knowing he's ok.
everything in prison takes SO long! Try e Mail a Prisoner too, that's a brilliant service.
