Following my previous thread about the second knock .I'm just wondering how after arrest ,my son appeared in magistrates the next day ,remanded ,and given crown court date roughly a month later .when we got the first knock it took about 10 months to go through devices ,how can they go through 6 phones including broken ones ,5 laptops and hard drives in a month ?

What Daffodil said. My husband was arrested and they did an urgent referral to CPS out of hours to get him charged that night as they had enough evidence and he had admitted it (he stupidly didn't have a solicitor as didn't believe he'd done anything wrong). He was at magistrates the next day.
Keep posting Michelle. We are here for you. Xxx
First off I hope that you are ok, well I know that you are not ok but you know what I mean by that.
They remand all reoffending persons regardless of crime, these persons are then seen as priority because first off they don't want to have people on remand for too long as they are automatically placed in a holding prison, innocent until proven guilty and all that, therefore false imprisonment until proven guilty.
cps would have been given an emergency case, and can therefore make all divices a priority so divices should be back from foresnsics within a couple of weeks.
Depending on your sons plea depends on when he goes to court officially, the first date which you said is within a month is a bail hearing, second plea etc etc. you have been here you know the drill.
if your son pleads not guilty throughout the maximum amount of time on remand is 6 months, and trial by crown court.
bare in mind that for every day on remand counts as being in prison for 2 days (yeah it sounded odd to me to but it's the whole innocent until proven guilty thing), so for example if he spends 6 months on remand it counts as having spent one year inside and comes off the sentence in the end. If he's sentenced to two years one year is automatically taken off as having been spent and probably of doing a further 6 months in prison (half the year for the one remaining, I have no idea why if you are sentenced to a certain amount of time inside you normally only do half of that)
I really hope that I made sense with what I am saying.
sending you all the love and support I can xx

Hi daffodil
my mistake, I never thought that would be the case that they bail as several friends have had automatic remand (nothing to do with this type of thing) I just assumed it's an automatic remand. Never occurred to me about the dangers to themselves which is probably the reason they were remanded. Thank you for that xx

Prior convictions relevant to the crime and consideration of potential further offending are also taken into account in bail hearings too Dragonmama, there's a lot to it xx
I'm a little confused because the first time he was a minor and given a caution so he didn't go to court. This time he went to magistrates and remanded pleaded quilty to part of it ,when he goes to crown in April ,is that for sentencing ?I'm not sure how it works ,sorry x
My sons case went through the system very quickly. As you say I think that happens when they find enough evidence to make charges. Also he pleaded guilty.
