Hi, my husband's phones were sent off for forensic examination in July 22 after the knock. They are still being investigated and we haven't heard from police yet.

My question is: does this mean they couldn't find any evidence to charge during the initial searches at the police station?

Or could it also mean that they already found enough evidence to charge, but are hoping to find more?

Thanks for any advice xx

My son didn't hear anything for 14 months then had a call out of the blue asking him to go in for a second interview. So these things can take a long time x

I'm afraid it is typical to get radio silence for months. took about a year and half for the second interview to go through the evidence found, this was before COVID. I like to think waiting times should be improving now....but still takes a long time. And doesn't always reflect the number of devices taken

I know things can take a long time and I am prepared for that. I am just wondering if they already had enough evidence to charge would they still have sent off the phones for further forensic examination?

i imagine it depends on area of the country. for us, they did an initial search at the station, found nothing, search history clean etc so just gave back the devices. didn't even bother sending for forensics.

some areas possibly just send everything to forensics as a matter of course, so they possibly didn't find anything but sent it all off anyway.

Hi hpl. I can see that you are very worried. Was your husband arrested on the day of the knock? What happens is they usually find evidence on the scene of arrest, if not the devices will go to forensics for a deep check.

I know that the waiting is torture, use this time for your husband to get help and support. Especially for you too as it's so much to deal with especially the time it takes, you mind goes through every scenario of what it could be. As hard as it is, take a step back. Live each day as it comes and you will eventually find out when they have looked at devices. Xx

Hpl. If they already found evidence there will usually be more so yes they still go ahead to check the devices. Stay strong. Xx

Hpl

We had the knock and oh was accused of distribution 16 months later charges no distribution was found so if it would need to be looked into because could be done for something not found else
