Just give me a break and some answers please

So we are still waiting to hear back from the interview that my son had on Friday ( they said he would hear early this week) but as time goes on we are both thinking that he hasn't been successful.
He had a meeting with Probation this morning and again tried to get them to clarify what jobs he can apply for but they basically told him that they aren't prepared to answer and that it all depends on what the visor decides- he isn't giving any guidance either so we just feel like we are going round in circles here.
He desperately wants to be in a job and both his mental health and mine are really suffering as a result of him being forced out of his previous job.
He told the PO that he's struggling and her response was that he looked ok to her ...wtf she clearly has no training in the fact that people often mask their emotions!!

The behaviour of the professionals who should be there to support your son is appalling @Seaside. With regard to the job perhaps he could give them a call to find out if the vacancy has been filled? At least he then has an answer x
Thanks Life we are going to give the company a call if he hasn't heard anything by lunchtime tomorrow and then at least he will know.
Bloody ridiculous Seaside, so sorry that this madness continues. I think that unless he's applying for any clearly inappropriate jobs, just get out there and apply and let the employers do the due diligence with regard to criminal record.
Evening Seaside x
Ahh isn't it frustrating when they say we will get back to you and yet still left waiting!
As for the comment from his PO oh so because he looks ok then that's fine! So many people look ok on the outside it's how they feel inside
Seriously how are these men able to feel they can get back to a new normal when the people who are meant to be there to offer help and advice give flippant shitty comments like that!
He just needs a break, some self worth it's just so frustrating for you all xx
I dont know where abouts you are in the uk and I wish I could give you some info on where I work but we do Not discriminate and take each person on merit and the interview and go from there and as a manager details of offences remain private
I hope he gets some positive news soon xx

Seaside, it's so frustrating isn't it?
Read that Maps for Change policy, or is/has your son done different rehabilitation? I know there's Horizon or something such as that.
I think for me in my profession, and previously yours, we are so used to living by policies and accountability it's difficult that other professions don't seem to have to adhere or aren't as forthcoming with theirs. Surely there are policies that have to adhered to that should be in the public domain, and if not should be able to be requested without it causing problems because as we know with young people, if they are not fully aware of what the expectations are then they are set up to fail. It's like our people live by a behaviour/expectations policy that the agencies involved are not transparent about other than telling, whilst holding them to account with consequences which ultimately makes it more difficult and sets them up to fail.
Having been researching integrated offender management I know he will have a risk management plan, has this been shared with him? Can he ask for a copy?
Really hope he gets this Hertz job but then as with our profession, only those successful applicants tend to find out and the rest have to presume if they haven't heard, they haven't got it.
I think blind compliance rather than informed compliance may actually be preferred because then they have control. But for me, give me the information and I will support it! I will support him in complying, I'd just like to understand it coming from a precessional level.

Thanks for all your answers-
@Lola I have told him to apply for any jobs he thinks are ok and see what happens but the problem is that it seems that the visor will just disclose to employers regardless because he is a total idiot.
@Smile as always thanks for your support I was always taught that you look at the individual not the crime but that clearly doesn't appear to be the case here.
@Sotired no a risk assessment hasn't even been mentioned so will definitely be requesting a copy of that thanks.
I'm getting very angry now and just want someone to give him and I a break

Im not at this stage yet but dreading it. Would your son be able to apply for a civil service job? I understand there are some jobs being advertised that are soley working from home telephone work I believe.Although I dont think 100%working from home is always best for mental health it could be a stop gap.
this is the link(if it works) but as you say get him to apply for everything and anything, something will stick in the end.Its important for him to remember ,that unfortunately lots of potential employers are crap at letting people know about jobs. It can be fine margins that mean you lose out.
I know everything is made worse because he was forced out of a perfectly good job. X

My apologies for jumping in but I was curious about job role (thinking about both mine and my persons futures) and clicked on the link. I quite like home-working :)
I noticed it said that it was subject to successful completion of Government Screening checks. Wondered if that would rule out a lot of people here if they have a conviction or caution. Anyone have any information on that?

Runaway I am wondering the same thing it says it is subject to a standard DBS so I think that would rule it out
Update-son has had an email today asking him to go back for a further chat about the post with Hertz so it's sounding hopeful.
He has drafted an email to the visor outlining the post and asking if there would be any reason for him not to accept the job if he's offered it-I honestly can't see why he wouldn't be allowed to do it since they don't hire to under 25 or employ under 18's.
He doesn't want to mess them around by accepting and then having to withdraw if the bully boy visor raises objections

Hi Regarding the job advert. I work in civil service, I know they do check, but I know that in the past the have hired people who have previously had criminal convictions eg I worked with a young man who had a record for dealing drugs.
Ive no idea if that was "spent" conviction or whether they would view people with our type of offences differently.
It was just the fact that these temporary jobs that I linked to are exclusively home working so my common sense head thinks if you are free to work then why not a job like this with no contact with anyone outside your home. But I know common sense rarely prevails.
Seaside that sounds so hopeful for your son I have everything crossed.
