Jobs and IT equipment

My person's current industry requires him to have a work laptop and other devices.
He doesn't want to lose his entire career but it seems that if he's convicted and an SHPO (internet restrictions) put in place he will be unlikely to be allowed IT equipment from a work place, even if encrypted and only able to be used in certain ways (the current equipment is heavily restricted) is this correct?
We realise he will lose his job but there are small companies in the industry he could switch to that would likely not DBS.
Just trying to prepare really

Thanks Lee that's what I thought.
We're some way off but looking at him leaving his current employment sooner rather than later to preserve his reputation there/references prior to potential charges, and trying to figure out the most protective way forward

My partner was working from home during the lockdown. He has the typical IT clauses in his SHPO. I believe he had to give the serial number of the computer but no monitoring software added as the police understood his company had the right safe gaurds on company owned IT.
Recommend unlock to confirm. My partner is now back in the office so no IT at home for now

Thanks Majestic that's a really positive outcome. I will live in hope... It sounds like your person was able to retain the same job as well?
My oh has a company laptop and phone his told them about it but no software as been put on. The last time she was round she mentioned she would like to check it at some point so he handed it over straight away. The company have firewalls so it's safe to use but in his shpo conditions it does say software apart from work stuff so could also be that we got the solicitor to change the wording to not effect work
My ex was still working when sentenced and has internet restrictions on his SHPO, but they didn't have an issue with his work laptop. He doesn't have the monitoring software. They were happy for him to log that he has access to the laptop as he does his personal laptop, but otherwise no other restrictions. Obviously it will depend on how good the VISOR is. My husband has been lucky with his and probation as they understand he's better off working, for his own wellbeing and lowering risk. It's all about managing the risk rather than stopping internet access altogether. He is assessed as very low risk of reoffending though, which might make a difference.
Depends on your SHPO, but many exempt work devices from restrictions. For us, a work laptop (provided he isn't self employed) is exempt from restrictions as most workplaces have software monitoring for illicit use.
Police visor manager just notes he has access.
My partner changed out of IT and software design after conviction and switched into HGV driving. He accesses a tablet each day to log deliveries and police have never been bothered about it as it's fully monitored by work.
Hope that gives you some confidence!

My partner had a job at sentencing and they never know about the sentence (suspended). He didn't need to disclose and didn't have IT for the job. He was lucky to get a job where no disclosure was needed and police were happy and agreed he didn't need to let his employer know due to the IT at home.
