Hello! Hope you all had a lovely Easter xx

just looking for some advice! We're a year on with not a peep from police or our very expensive solicitor.

we've only had one electronic device back from police (my laptop which I use for my job)

bail has been extended numerous times.

this has made a huge impact on our lives, our daughter is very young, we're worried for our futures etc etc.

has anyone taken matters in to their own hands? Police said the reason for delay is because of covid but come on?

Has anyone emailed police themselves? I'd fully respect the time they're taking if my partner was guilty 100% but he's not whatsoever! I need to get this ball rolling no one cares! We feel like the bottom of the pile, our solicitor has our money so why should they take urgency?

Hi lovely,

Hope you're managing to settle a little tonight although I know how hard that can be. Timescales re police are a lottery. I can only go by our experience which was a year from knock to CPS.

Emailing really won't make much of a difference in my experience and as hard as it is, it really is a waiting game x

I would suggest asking your solicitor for an update. If they don't respond, ask for some specific devices back via the solicitor.

The OIC for my OH did not react well when I asked for timescales. They also only seemed to have done anything about the case when I arranged to pick up devices.

As mentioned above, it will be a long wait regardless.

It took 20 months for all electronic devices to come back from forensics. The wait was horrid. My person arrested in April 2021 and I made a complaint to the police constabulary in November 2022 because I was really struggling at the time, had a breakdown, was getting suicidal thoughts etc and it was all from the pressure of SS.

The officer in charge of the case contacted me personally after the complaint and gave me regular updates. She also pushed for devices to come back. She also said covid backlog caused the delay. Devices came back in December 2022 and my person had 2nd interview January 2023. 2nd court appearance due in May. Once devices come back things do move more quickly.

If it's affecting your well-being you have every right to complain.

I wouldn't recommend contacting the police directly. But if you do, make sure its in writing.

We are also still waiting over a year from the knock with bail extensions every 3 or 6 months.

If you are already paying your solicitor then chase them to chase the police, otherwise they have your money for nothing and if you're not bothering them then they're not going to do much about anything (there's not much to do other than ping an email or 2).

Keep your nerve. You can do this.xx

I wouldn't contact them directly, it is a long wait but sounds odd to say but enjoy limbo before it kicks off again, you won't hurry them up they do thier own thing! X
