Am I thinking straight?

I've had similar thoughts on this subject. I think until there is more awareness of porn addiction then it will get to the point where SS and authorities are overwhelmed. I've been in this situation for 2 years now and before the knock didn't know anything about porn addiction and how it can lead to acessing IIOC.
Awareness needs to be made public, on TV and social media, like gambling is now. People need to be aware of the signs of someone who may be excessively viewing porn and/or IIOC. I saw so many signs in my person before the knock like being disconnected from family/friends, depression, staying up late to be alone. I knew something was wrong, that he was hiding something but couldnt get out of him what was wrong. Also to be made aware of the risk factors in someone becoming addicted like childhood trauma, abandonment, financial issues, drug/alcohol problems.
If kids in schools were educated about what porn is, the dangers and the fact that sexual behaviour in porn is not what sex in real life is actually like, it would be a good starting point.
Porn addiction and illegal pornography is a modern day problem but most of society don't know it exists. Nor do they have the emotional intelligence or awareness to deal with the family of offenders, who are just as much victims as the victims on the screen.

The system is already unmanageable the wait for devices to be checked CPS decisions and then court dates and this isn't just related to these offences but any offences drugs rape Domestic abuse cases.
many people getting community sentnaces and unpaid work probation stretching out meetings as high caseloads and unpaid work don't have enough placements (in this area anyway)
childrens services are already overcapacity recruiting non social workers to complete assessment in some cases.
there is the AI technology out their to help reduce these crimes IIOC and communication offences but nobody wants to invest in these. As Lee said porn is a big money maker.
police seem happy to catch low hanging fruit rather than focus efforts on people producing this material. 800 arrests a month looks good for thier crime rates from sitting at a desk. Rather than catching 1 significant person.
I often have these thoughts around what is life going to be like for my children and it worries me!
unfortunately nothing will change until people talk about this more. Previous to the knock I was unaware of the situation nor was probably bothered by it ignorance is bliss for many.

Polly Pocket, on your point on 'forced decoy conversations, initiated by the police', I found out recently that 'the leading' social media platform bans people 'who impersonate others' as it's fraudulent. By pretending to be people online that they are not, the police are creating and encouraging scenarios that would otherwise not exist!

Always Hopeful,
I hear what you're saying and have wondered the same things. The situation seems to be escaping out of all control. I read recently that 25%of the prison population is sex offenders, and having viewed news reports of outcomes since we had the knock I suspect that as much of 80% of those sex offenders are Internet offenders, not rapists or contact offenders. The prisons are going to burst and the police, probation and social services are going to become completely bogged down with the post sentencing management of Internet based sex offenders. While I'm not saying there shouldn't be interventions for these crimes, it does seem to me that there might be better and more cost effective ways of managing the offenders of these crimes or, better still, preventing or reducing the risk of them happening in the first place. Reducing the huge number of shattered lives.

Just wanted to send a big hug to you all. My son is still RUI after 6 months. No news. He is so isolated. His siblings will have very little to do with him now and by grandchild is not permitted by his parents to come here (even under supervision). We are hosting the annual summer party in the summer and i just don't know how to manage it; the wider family don't know. I wake multiple times per night and the fact that he has done this is the first thing in my head. It's just heartbreaking.
Can I just say something in the defense of the police (and I didn't think I would ever defend them, as I really dislike them).
There are teams within the police that try to find the actual producers of indecent images and they work internationally with teams from other countries.
It's not that easy as people that produce these images or videos either don't show their face or blur/hide their face.
But those teams analyse objects you can see in these videos, furniture, languages spoken, dialects etc.
So they are making an effort to track down these people that produce these images/videos.
