Mornin all - Can one of you ladies with a loved one in prison, please tell me this won't happen.

several times over Easter my landline has rung (I pick it up) then it's dead. I know it's my son obv hear the acceptance voicemail / it's more likely the silly sod hasn't topped up his phone credit.

But I continue to fear when this happens relatives have blocked my number via the authorities, can anyone do this? It's a big worry for me and I didn't sleep a wink last night fretting......

Hi Smile, sorry you ar worrying about this. I can't say for certain but I would very much doubt it. If your number had been block (not in his PIN) then it wouldn't even connect to your phone to hear the message. Similarly if a block had been made on your phone from recieving the a call, it wouldn't connect for you to hear that awful message.

Part of my job is in tech, so I have some understanding how the systems are likely to work. As you say, he's probably run out if credit.

Morning Smile, so sorry you are worrying about him but I can totally empathise. If you have authorised and had your contact number security checked via the prison I'm sure a third party would have no ability to block that contact and as our other lovely people have said it wouldn't connect at all. It's awful that family members would even say this. As you know we've had a long period of no contact recently and I requested welfare checks on numerous occasions to stop my mind worms taking over. Waiting for phone calls is the worst xx

Hello,

Do you use email a prisoner? I used this regularly and paid for a reply sheet. He didn't always reply and kept them for times when phones were not working or limited credit to let us know all was OK.

Hope you make contact soon.

Also, you can not be blocked by external agencies without them informing you. It'll be credit or him not being patient enough waiting for the msg - apparently it just rings their end when we have to listen to that awful bit.

What would I do without you ladies.?????

I did send him an email to let him know I wasn't getting the calls. I'll mention him replying via e Mail if there's any hiccups in the future.

ithink the seagulls are better organised than that prison. He gets no notification of his account etc, which is ridiculous. Other prisons he's been issued a proper statement.

little things mean such a lot - let's see what today brings - thankyou xxxxx

Morning Smile xx

It will be due to no credit on his account but still give the welfare line a call just to put your mind as ease xx

Yes we've spoke. He said there were a lot of angry people there. As we well know the phone is SO important and it's not as if you can just call back if there's a problem.

Any blip just sets you off again - all the fears begin to niggle and haunt you...

both happy bunnies now, panic over x
