Disassociation Personality Disorders

Hi,
Apologies if I've asked this before but does anyone have experience of disassociation personality disorders?
My person has been told numerous times he shows signs of this but has never been diagnosed. Thinking it might help with mitigation?

Hi Lee, apologies, I didn't mean how that sounded :(
My person does fully understand what he's done and is so remorseful, he's been having therapy weekly for over a year which is helping with the past trauma and also helping understand what has led him down this path to destruction he's also done a step course for alcohol issues and done modules on LFF, although he says he has no attraction to minors and is working on what led him to do what he did and was it hand in hand with the personality disorders.
He's been told now by different people that they think he might have some sort of personality disorder but we've not really thought about it much (but we should have) until my person has told his therapist and myself about the childhood trauma. I didn't mean to infer it would help his sentence/at court, just that it will help him long term in life moving forward. Also with a disorder not sure would they be fit to attend court and be in full capacity? xx

Recognising mental health disorders, history of abuse, addiction can be useful. They key question is what has he done with that knowledge and understanding to reduce the risk of reoffending. If he is genuinely remorseful and recognises that even just viewing IIOC can lead to others abusing children and makes it more likely he will go further, he would want to go to any lengths to avoid re offending. What has changed since he offended that makes it more or less likely he would do it again? How can you evidence that? E.g. if he committed offences while on drugs and recognised that being high was a risk factor for him offending, can he show probation that he has done things to change his life to take that out as a risk factor in future? Or has he done nothing - in which case they will rightly wonder whether he really is remoseful.
I think it's just worrying about court and if he'll be able to attend due to his anxiety etc. He knows he has to attend but he'll be mentally a wreck, as I'm sure most of the people on here are when they attend.
He's got an accountability letter he's done and a few character references plus the modules he's done are in a folder and paperwork for the alcohol course he attended so we'll pass all to the solicitor. Just waiting on CPS now.

Hi, he has seen his GP and had/has antidepressants, his therapist is also amazing and he works well with him.
He has tried the unthinkable twice and thank god is still here fighting .
He is remorseful and absolutely disgusted with himself, his therapist is helping him with triggers and dealing with the triggers and helping him rebuild in a healthy positive way back up from the psychological distress he's been in for many years. He's also managed to stay in employment xx

Thanks Lee, I will have a look at aurora with him. He does feel deep shame and guilt and more so stupid that he's got himself to this situation, he knows what he did he did when under the influence so he's managing to stay away from those things xx
