Police will conduct an investigation (this bit can take AGES) and his bail will be extended while that is going on.

they will then disclose what they have found to your person and their solicitor before sending this information to the CPS who will decide exactly what to prosecute for.

at some point after that (we have been told 3 months with the CPS), your person will receive charges and a date to appear at magistrates.

I am not 100% sure on whether your person could get remanded before that as "taking" is seen as much more serious in the judicial system.

"taking" = taking pictures

"making" = dowloading

"distributing" = sharing

your person could get charged with all three or some of the above depending on what has gone on.

@DB For making and distributing indecent images, if it's a first time offense, offenders regularly get suspended sentences (though not always)

However, if your husband produced/took indecent images of your children and distributed them online, he's likely to go to prison.

If there are aggravating actors, such as the images/Videos showing him sexually assaulting your children, he will go to prison for quite a long time.

The fact that he's not allowed to be in the same area, shows how serious this is.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. We're here for you if you need someone to talk to xx

Am so sorry this has happened to you. Our situation is not dissimilar in some respects and I reached out to the child protection police officer (this is different to the OIC) to ask what needed to be done to safeguard my daughter. They have been very helpful, and also as my daughter was a victim able to share more information with me so I can work with school etc to minimise any risks. This ensures things like ensuring address isn't shared because victim is at same address and if her image is in circulation this poses a risk to her, schooo ensuring her picture doesn't appear in any newsletters etc.

Am so sorry this has happened to your family.
