Hello everyone,

It was my birthday a couple of days ago and that led me to reflect on how far we have come since this time last year.

This time last year we were still in limbo waiting for charges and very scared about the possible outcome whilst also trying to negotiate a move away to a different area.

Son was sentenced in January and received a 3 year community order with 5years on SOR and SHPO.

We have been extremely lucky in that nothing has been reported in the media as that was a very real fear .

Things haven't all been plain sailing and we have had some issues with Visor and Probation but we are now living in a different place away from all the problems and bad memories and we are beginning to move forward slowly but surely.

im going to take a bit of a back seat from the forum for a while but will check in for Upset Mum's weekly update.

I honestly can't thank all you wonderful people on here enough for all your support and advice which has helped me to get where I am now -this is a journey nobody wants to be on and we are are incredible people.

If anyone wants to message me then please do so-love and strength to you all xxx

Thank you for your reflections. It is very hard to hold on to in the midst of the tornado, but there is some comfort and truth in the cliches, including:

- all things pass

- nothing is for ever

- every cloud has a silver lining

- just because someone has a past doesn't mean they don't have a future

- life is more than about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about finding a way to dance in the rain.

Wishing you and yours every happiness for what's ahead.

Hi Seaside. I'm glad you're moving on and thank you for posting, as reading that people are moving on really gives me hope for our son as he starts his adult life that where we once though his future was doomed. Its the glimmer of hope we need xxx

Hi Seaside, thanks for posting. I am where you were last year still waiting for charges, so it is nice to hear from someone out the other end.

Hearing about families moving on in a positive way is really important to those of us still in the eye of the storm.

I wish you and your son nothing but the best.

I had a tear in my eye when I read this Seaside, it gives us all hope as we claw our way back to some sort of normality.

Slowly but surely it will happen - wish you and your family the best xxxxxx
