Child protection conferences normally have a review conference 3 months after the initial conference then normally 6months after that. Inbetween you should have core group meetings where 'members of the core group' ie the people working with you and your family will meet with you to see how the plan is going is everyone doing what has been asked of them.
At a child protection conference these members will write reports beforehand and should share these with you before submitting them to the independent reviewing officer IRO ahead of the conference. These reports will be shared with the attendees of the conference to read beforehand.
The IRO will normally speak to you before the conference and they will chair the child protection conference to ensure everyone is heard and you have opertunity to speak. At the end of the conference everyone will be asked for thier decision as to if the case meets the threshold for child protection planning (is the child/ren at risk of significant harm) and if so what category it is under.
The IRO will have the final say.
After the conference either straight away or a date within a few days the core group members and you come together to create and plan as to what actions need to happen to support you with the issues which they feel needs addressing. Being under CPP means everyone is held to account.
It can be daunting and scary but you will be given an opertunity to speak and give your view and thoughts. Don't argue over others even if you don't agree, read the reports beforehand and advice of any factual inaccuracies when they are shared with you. In the meeting write down anything you want to bring up or you want to question regarding what you have heard.
