Today was really busy , me and my daughter left home at 6am and arrived at 8.15

The ladies that check you in are so lovely we don't even have to give my sons name as they know who we are visiting (makes such a difference)

My son looked tired but also looked well, the gym sessions are so good for him x

He had 4 crumpets with butter, a sausage roll, crisps, a chocolate cake, a tub of icecream and a magnum, a real belly full

But today we really opened up about his offending, how he got here, how he felt about himself, listening to how he was talking about him his true self, he never spoke about how he felt about himself from a young age, his sister wanted to cry, me as his mum I was so so proud of how he spoke about his offending today reminded me of how precious he is , He is my son , A Mothers love xx

How positive for you all. You must be exhausted now.

Can relate to the maternal impulse of feeding him and remembering what he ate. These sources of comfort are so important.

He is so lucky to have you and his sister.

Thank you for sharing

Society has made it so difficult for men to feel able to discuss their feelings and emotions in any circumstances let alone something as difficult as this. You must be so incredibly proud of your son. The support you are providing as his family is to be admired. I'm so glad you had a good visit x

Life thank you x

I am incredibly proud of him, not the crime nor his offending

But the way he has coped, he was suicidal for months, but he has worked so hard on himself, and talking today so honestly and opened up he has come along way xx

Hey Upset mum,

I'm really pleased to read you had a good visit with your son today and a really positive, open and vulnerable conversation with him. As the others have said, you must be so proud to see how far he has come. To be able to open up and talk about his feelings is massive!

I hate how stigmatised it is for men to be able to talk about their emotions (honestly, toxic masculinity can do one!), so the fact your son is able to do that is really admirable. Hope you have a lovely rest of your weekend xx

That's excellent Upset - to open up like that proves a big step forward for him and his rehabilitation process. I never got the chance to have these conversations with my son and not a thing you talk about over a prison phone call. Disadvantage of not seeing him face to face.

it's a wonder your son wasn't sick after the mini feast, bless him. X

The long list of food he ate made me giggle and then I thought about how much it must have cost! We had a mini feast a few weeks ago and he looked like he was about to pop, his stomach has shrunk somewhat!

It's great he was able to open up, it's sad men don't feel they can talk about their feelings.

His list of food reminded me of the very hungry caterpillar lol. I'm glad that he's opening up, not easy for any of you but being real is absolutely necessary for moving forward. Hopefully he'll emerge as a beautiful butterfly when the time comes xxx

So pleased that you had a visit and your son is doing well.

It made me smile you describing what he ate -my son is the same he seems to have hollow legs and an amazing capacity for eating!!

Wonderful that he is now opening up to you and both of you should be very proud-you are an incredible Mum and with your love and support I'm sure he will continue to move forward xx

Lovely to see he starting to open up and talk, it must of been very hard for him at first, but it looks like he growing in confidence and knows his mum is simply the best.

I did however smile at how much he ate.
