Hi,

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who offered advice and support about jury duty. I was called last week and although this will sound strange I really found it Interesting. It made me realise that I can still find an Interest in things which amazed me as since the Knock I've found myself having no interest in anything. The charge was nothing like we discuss on here. The crown did not provide enough evidence and it was an interesting process of finding person not guilty however, I am absolutely furious today. The case has been reported in the press today and the details they provide and what they have said is not only untrue but completely inaccurate. The wording of it even implies that the jury should be seen as guilty of a crime. I was not even aware of anyone in the public gallery. It just highlights how anyone charged with any sort of crime is unfairly treated. It makes me want to take up some sort of career to take these people on. How can newspapers get away with telling such lies. Sorry for the rant. Hope you are all doing well.

Glad you got a positive from your jury duty, but can fully understand how infuriating those news reports must be. I think newspapers are on their last legs so everything has to be sensationalist regardless of the truth.

I think it's possible that they got their information from the police/prosecution. I know that some forces do share with court reporters so it probably includes some personal opinions of whoever investigated it and compiled (or not) evidence that they thought was strong enough to get a conviction. I'm pleased that you were able to regain an interest and hope that you are able to keep that momentum going in whatever you choose to research or pursue as a hobby.
I'm sorry that the media report was so inaccurate. It definitely highlights that the reporting in the media can be misleading and not reflective of what happens in court. This journey has definitely given me a fresh perspective on the media and also my attitude towards what I read and watch xxx

We had this but we haven't challenged it as it was anonymised.

He had a deletion breach. Nothing illegal and we reported it.

The article said he had been using aliases to trawl social media, had been in contact with children on social media to pursue his perverted obsession etc and used his knowledge of technology to try and evade police finding out by deleting material, had been searching for images etc.

Horrific

Thank you for all the kind replies. Sorry for the outburst, it just made me so mad. The amount of stories we all hear about people being treated unfairly is just awful. xx
