Hi I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me with this.

We have received a letter from the DBS regarding inclusion on the barred list for working with children due to son's previous employment before the knock.

Whilst he totally accepts and understands this is necessary it appears that the wrong information has been given-reference is made to section 92 whereas on his conviction statement it refers to section 10a and also the nature of the offence is incorrect as it was a non contact online offence.

The other issue is that mention is made of an organisation which he has never worked for and has no knowledge of which makes me feel that they have mixed up his case with someone else.

He has a meeting with probation tomorrow and will bring this to their attention but up until now they've been pretty useless regarding advice.

Has anyone successfully got the details amended on the DBS form ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Lee and Upset -I have emailed the DBS and will also try phoning them tomorrow.
I am astonished by this and it is seriously worrying if they are making these kind of mistakes.

Well as usual probation we're flipping useless and said that they didn't know about this and that we should contact the DBS which we've already done I honestly am astounded at the complete incompetence of people who are supposedly in charge of the fate of others.

Daffodil you're absolutely right being convicted of an offence is one thing and he immediately ceased working after the knock but putting the wrong information is not acceptable at all .

It really doesn't surprise me it's not correct and it's hard to get a straight answer from anyone no one either knows or wants to put thier name to it! And different sections mean different things don't they! It's not our jobs to be getting this right and our people have no clue really either!

Probation has my person down as a different offence that what he commited so shared this with Ss and other agencies. When questioned they stated it was correct then my person pulled out the court paperwork and they backtracked but then said oh it's not in the drop down so had to pick one?!! Also unpaid couldn't add up the hours right so ended up doing more! You try and question /resolve the issue they think you are being awkward or something then get funny but I don't know why people can't do their jobs properly?!
