Legal Aid

Hi everyone. I've been co-operating with my husband's solicitors as he is applying for legal aid. I don't know if it's the solicitor's incompetence or the faulty legal aid system but legal aid have come back with a requirement for my husband to contribute £6k. My husband isn't living with me as we have children and he isn't allowed to stay in a house with children, but I have also made it clear to him that even if he's found not guilty I don't want him back. The legal aid has been based on both our incomes based on last tax year, but my husband has lost his job because of the allegations, and has no income. I am struggling as a single parent supporting our children on my earnings.
My question is, if I tell the solicitor that we are separated, can the legal aid be based just on my husband's circumstances? I am so stressed and don't want to have to deal with it anymore. Am I obliged to provide information for his hardship application?

My husband got legal aid and only had to be about £300 towards court costs. My husband and I lived separately therefore the solicitor only used his income x
