My son is due to be sentenced next Friday. I'd decided that I couldn't go as I can't face what I might hear, even though he said he's been totally honest with me. When they read out the charges will they disclose the ages of girls in the photos. I don't know how I'll feel if I know he's lied to me. How long approx once he's gone into court does it roughly take to sentence x

It depends how soon his case gets called. If he is the first one in the courtroom, he will be sentenced in the morning, but if there is someone ahead of him, he may have to wait til the afternoon.

I wish I had known in advance that they would read the ages and breif description of the worst iiocs. I may not have gone in if I knew more about what being in court would be like. You could consider waiting outside and not go in and ask the solicitor to mention there is support there on the day. Alternatively in the character references state that you do not want to be present in the court room for personal reasons.

Evidence of support can help the case but do not feel obligated to be there in person

He's asked me and his sister to go along with his dad (my ex) I absolutely don't want to go but feel I have to, to show he has got family support. The charges are cat A-C photos and a few videos. No communication. We have already sent character references in to his barrister to put before the judge. I'm just scared it's going to be far worse than he's told me. I can't cope if he's been lying to me x

Hi Mandy.

When my Son was at Court his charges Cat A to C iloc and videos were spoken about very briefly and not in detail and it was very quick in Court.

The prosecution hardly said anything, I think this was a lot to do with my Son having Autism and his past circumstances.

The Judge was very fair and he received a suspended sentence. The relief was immense.

As Lee said its good for the judge to see family members as it shows a strong support network.

Also agree about having full disclosure it makes you prepared.

Wishing you all the best, please dont let the fear take over and at last you will finally know what is happening. Xx

Lee

i have never doubted that he wasn't telling us all the truth. I made it clear to him I would support him but he had one chance to tell me the truth. I think it's the anxiety taking over now and I'm just fearing the worse. Xx
