Quick question, lovely people!

How long between requesting a therapist via the online referral form on StopSo's website and actually having someone make contact? Am I right in thinking that StopSo refer the person to a therapist in their locality and then the therapist gets in touch? It's nearly 2 weeks since our son sent off the form and he hasn't heard back from anyone yet. Don't want to hassle StopSo by ringing them but equally don't want things to get missed!

Thank you and a hug for anyone who needs it today! I could do with one as just discovered that my son's wife has been messaging family of ours to tell them about our son........

Hi rainyday52

Sorry no advice on the therapist query ( I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you soon with some info) I'm just wanted to send you a virtual Cwtch(hug) back .

Definition of Cwtch .. "More than a hug or a cuddle . When you give someone a cwtch you figuratively give them a safe place " ...something we could all do with most days I think Xx

I found I didn't get a reply from the online form but there is a email address on the website, I used that and they got in contact very quickly.

It took two or three weeks for me, my OH got one almost immediately.

Therapists have to pay stopso for the referral (I think) so I guess if everyone's books are full, they don't pick up referrals??

I think it is done on a regional basis so you can have therapy in person. I only ever zoom. So if you email and say you're happy to zoom, then you might be able to get someone further away?

good luck

Many thanks for all the replies - our son has always had no sense of urgency about things (he's got a measured temperament like his dad but he's also good at procastinating like me!!) and I guess I'm just anxious on his behalf about being more proactive because of the situation - but at his age I have to let him get on with it in his own way which isn't easy when we're supporting him through this awful time.

Anyway, sounds like it's not totally unusual for it to take a while for some areas and also he needs to email rather than use the online form so I've passed that on to him and he will follow it up on Monday (see, King Procastinator - but as he's off for the day with his kids I'll let him off!)
