We have been messed around none stop lately. We we're told before Xmas case would be closed then our sw up and left, we finally got given our original SW from 23 months ago and she was surprised it was even still open. Her manager did an professionals meeting back in February and it was agreed after phased return had finished it would be closed. Well a month ago our SW did the last home visit to do the last assessment to close case. We are still waiting she's emailed me 3 times after I've emailed first all times saying she's finishing it to the point last week we were meant to have a cin meeting she told me the day before she was cancelling it to finish to assessment didn't bother telling anyone so I had nursery and health visitor ringing me.then probation asking what was happening because them and visor were also waiting for meeting to start. She finally send an apology email after I emailed her and put her manager in the email because of how annoyed I was for her to tell everyone that the assessment would be sent once it was done even though she has told me that she had been doing it every time of contact. Is there anything I can do or is this the normal and it somehow takes a month upwards to complete it and close the case

that sounds horrendous! She's not doing her job properly, she's completely ignoring the impact this is having on you and your family? I'd ring her manger and demand a new social worker.this is so not acceptable! Don't let her away with treating you like this .

Her manager is aware I don't think she's overly bothered by it all. Probation have contacted the mangaer too so I'm hoping it might get our sw sorted abit quicker x

Hi there! I totally get your frustration and hope things can be dealt with asap for you to get on with life without this unecessary hassle.

Have you come across this organisation? https://frg.org.uk/

They have pages of information plus if you post your situation on their forum then they will reply giving you lots of advice about what you can do. They are really understanding and helpful. I think they have a helpline too if you'd like to talk through things. I think they're very busy but in my experience they always get back to you eventually.

Sorry if you know all about them already!

xx

The problem is that social workers are overloaded and many have so many cases that it's virtually impossible to keep on top of them. Recruitment is terrible as no one wants to do it .... pad pay and immensely stressful.
having said that there is no excuse for no letting people know that meetings have been cancelled
