Children's services intervention with grandparents, after bail change
Notifications OFF
Good morning folks,
Our son, on precharge bail, is living with us and seeing his children regularly when they visit, but has to move out overnight because of bail conditions. He's coming up to bail extension time and although the likelihood is that things will be extended again there is a small chance he could be RUI this time.
Does anyone have any tips or experiences (warnings!) of what to expect from Children's Services if this happens? Our grandchildren are on a Child Protection Plan due to our son's offences (online downloading) and also risk of emotional harm and inability to parent adequately on their mother's side. Their SW has already said that her intervention would increase at our end if the bail conditions changed as at the moment they are the protective factor for the children. We want to be prepared if we are suddenly under much harder scrutiny as protective factors for our grandchildren.
If anyone reading this is in the same boat any advice would be welcome. I've read lots of threads on here about safety plans but things like school pick-ups and having school friends over isn't relevant in our situation as we live many miles away from where the children live. Or should we include a mention of general things just in case, eg say that if our son ever accompanies us to collect the grandchildren and they are at school, we will park away from the premises and our son will stay in the car? He wouldn't as our car is too small to fit us 3 and the grandchildren so we always go on our own but perhaps we need to think creatively rather than logically! Do we need to include obvious things like our son always being supervised if we go out anywhere (I've already had to sit through 2 Superhero films recently, a deal with my OH that I'd do that if he did all the playing football stuff!!!)
The grandchildren are 8 and 11 if that helps.
Many many thanks and a hug if anyone needs that this morning and has managed to read this far!!! xxx

I would say if you're happy to continue supervising with the same restrictions as his bail conditions then that would be a sufficient safety plan for ss not to add their own restrictions to you all xxx
