Not personally but my son did their course for offenders prior to sentencing and found it helpful.

Hi, yes, my person did the Safer Lives course (there are options to do as part of a group or one-to-one. He did the one-to-one). He found it helpful. It's very similar to the LFF 'Engage plus' course but felt beneficial for him to do both.

Safer Lives also run the 'Talking Forward' peer support group. It's really well organised and managed and a very safe space. I find I do need to be in the right mindset to attend (I don't join all the sessions) and I actually find I get more upset by taking on the pain and hurt of others in addition to my own.

I do so wish these amazing resources were all compiled somewhere and shared consistently with family and friends very early on in the process.

My partner did the one to one course with Safer Lives instead of any with LFF (Safer Lives was available first, so was really down to one course being better than another) and they were great. Offered me lots of support too and they kept in contact even on the day of sentencing. They did a bespoke report for my partner (costa about £150) which was really helpful and the judge mentioned it in her summary.

I was one of the founding members of Talking Forward and it can be really helpful, especially to take the edge off feeling alone.

I don't attend anymore as my partner is home and allowed to be unsupervised and our lives are very much back to normal (as normal as can be expected) so I found I didn't have much to bring to the sessions anymore as I'm kind of through to the other side.

I would say definitely use all and any support available to you, it can help to have somewhere to vent and discuss.

I attended some of these before my son got his NFA decision. I found them really helpful. I attended a couple of online meetings . You do have to have camera on , but I found it so comforting to see all these "normal" people in their normal homes but were going through the same as me. Eveyone was just like on here, kind and helpful. It makes you feel so less alone
