These last few weeks I have been reliving the day of the knock, it came at 715am 2 officers firstly then another 2 arrived about 10 mins later all plain clothed, first 2 told us what they were there for myself and my daughter taken to other room while oh was chatted too as other 2 officers searched the house but not a major search as if they skimmed over nothing out of place at all I had to say he had camera and drone with memory cards in it, after around 20 mins the second 2 officers left the house and an expert arrived to check devices they set up in the kitchen, they searched my daughter phone, ipad and school laptop, and same with my devices. Checked oh devices but said his phone needed another check so took it away they were 99%sure it was clear though they would hopefully have it checked within 24 hours left the house again around 1030am, the next day they arrived to say they had found images on my oh phone took him for questioning this was around mid day, I got a call 630pm to say he was charged and remanded over weekend as he had said he would take his life, the officer he was in no way remanded for the charge it was purely on a mental health basis, he gave me details of solicitor and said he would appear on the Monday at court, a weekend in a cell surely can't help your mental health but I guess it was there only way to guarantee his safety, he was supported the full weekend by mental health team and I went to the police station daily to drop clothes off so he knew I wasn't abandoning him although I still didn't know what he was charged with, I didn't find that out until the Monday at court. I feel like this has all b3en a dream I know so many have had worse experiences than us but wtf has happened to my life

Please don't downgrade your trauma by comparing your experience to others. We as partners and family members have all been through a horrific experience and while all experience s are different and individual we all feel the same way. I'm sure your very eloquent summary "Wtf has happened to my life" will have resonated for many if not most who have gone through the experience of the knock. It certainly did with me.

Those of us who have been on this road for months/years will tel you life does get easier, although you will still have periods where nothing makes sense, or you will think why did this happen to me/us? Get help and support from whereever you can, your GP, the LFF helpline, counselling, atrusted friend or family member. Read the advice on this forum, check out the world according to the knock website. Priorise your own health and sanity first and then you will have the strength and resilience to get through this.

Just hang in there. You will get through this.

InTurmoil yeah the BBC thing I know, it's very triggering with all three prurient interest.

I do think the one good thing that may come out of it is that it is highlighting the fact that indecent images of 16 and 17 year olds are still illegal even though the individuals themselves are at the age of consent for sex. From all the comments I have read, that seems to have come as a surprise for most people, but the more aware everyone is, maybe people will stop think a bit harder about the legality of what they might be accessing/viewing online
