No Further Action?

Hi, I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there that has had the knock and then there has been no further action taken?
My dad got the knock earlier this year, all devices taken, he's had everything back apart from his personal laptop. He is adamant that he hasn't purposely accessed any child abuse material.
It's so difficult living in the unknown, we just want answers. Why would they knock in the first place if there was nothing to knock for?
Any positive stories welcome!

Hey Rebecca,
There have been a few cases in relation to iioc which resulted in NFA. It's very difficult to get to the bottom of the cause of where the allegation has come from/what triggered it. There are 2 scenarios for NFA. 1) it was an incorrect trigger from the ISP/application the alleged offence took place on. 2) the forensics fail to find evidence of it.
I hope you manage to get the answers you're looking for and this is wrapped up quickly. Big hugs x

My partner was under investigation six years ago and that resulted in NFA.
six years later he is on pre charge bail for arranging and facilitating..
I saw the social workers report to say police intelligence showed there was an upload/download or accessing IIOC from his address.
he wasn't prosecuted as their was insufficient evidence to justify further action.
i thought he'd been absolved and had done nothing. Looking back he was clearly investigating for a reason - there was just not enough to get a prosecution

From everything I've been told from the police, solicitor and barrister friend.... nfa is because of inability to find evidence to support intelligence found. THEY'VE STILL DONE IT just got away with it.
The intelligence includes ip address which means the offence took place from that wi fi address. They then pinpoint the person by further intelligence Ie an account registered with persons email address. I was told by the police that they only took his devices not mine because they knew it was him. My ex had previously wiped his phone so I'm hoping they can find something ( apparently it's hard to recover stuff from wiped iPhone) if he gets nfa I'll be gutted

Losteverything,
That's not necessarily true. There can be misinformation from your ISP and apps, and in some cases they cannot always identify the exact device the offence is allegedly take place on so then have to be suspicious of everyone in the property. There have been a couple of cases of the latter on here, one lady who had a very good job spent 2 years with her life in tatters as she was wrongly accused when it must've been her ex-partner.

My 18 year old son got NFA. No evidence was found on his devices. The police know he looked at something but could not find the evidence to take it further. My son knows he has been very lucky. He has had addressed his behaviour through therapy with stop so and we continue to monitor his online activity. We hope it was a one off and a hard lesson learnt. But I am still wracked with anxiety as is my husband and I have PTSD from the knock.
Obviously NFA was a massive relief but believe me it brings its own set of worries and concerns. For the rest of our lives we will be as vigilant as we can but I dont believe the worry of getting another knock will ever go away.

My partner received an NFA result 2 months after receiving the initial knock earlier this year. The police took all his devices for investigation but decided on NFA after nothing was found. Compared to others on here, I understand this is an exceptionally fast turnaround and result and he was fortunate to have things processed so quickly. I'm very conscious that others have a much longer wait in limbo.
We're in a similar situation where my partner has admitted to seeing it within group chat settings but is adamant he did not look for it intentionally nor wanted to see it. He is saying he just became numb to it as was on the chats daily for 'generic porn' and knew that unfortunately being in that world he would come across things he didn't want to see.
I want nothing more than to believe him but the police surely do not come knocking for what he is saying.
I really hope you get answers quickly. We are only a week or so in and it feels like a month has passed.
