So he just got a text telling him it's being passed to the CPS for a decision, and that illegal images were found on his devices, which isn't a surprise.
Any idea what happens now?
Any idea what happens now?
Not quite there yet but poised for similar news soon - my understanding is that there will be another wait for CPS decision on whether to prosecute (they have to be more or less sure of a conviction, but if he's already admitted he's guilty in an interview my guess is that CPS will usually decide it's worth prosecuting). Please correct me though if I'm wrong, other readers!
Then come the charges but I'll let others reply as I have some questions about that and what happens afterwards eg is the person called in or do the charges come in the post? Will all the gory details be on the charge sheet or just the official description of the crimes? If charging is done at the station rather than by post, should a solicitor be there at this point or is it just admin? Do you get a court date then or does it come later in the post? What is a typical time frame between charging and court; weeks? months?
Lonelymum - Hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread but hopefully any info will be helpful for you too xx

Hi Lovelymum, so sorry you are going through this.
Can I just ask - has he received the text from police or his solicitor?
My husband's phones have been forensically searched now and the search report was sent to the police.
We haven't heard from the police yet, so I just wonder what the procedure will be?
Thanks xx

He got a text from the police, hi officer in charge.
They actually dropped his bail conditions so he's not under conditions atm. Just SS restrictions.
So it's still a long process from here then?
It feels like you hear nothing for years and the your suddenly smacked with something and you're straight back to feeling how you did at the knock.
Is it the case that if they haven't asked for a second interview there's not any evidence we didn't already know about?

Hi again Lonelymum,
When you say the police dropped the bail conditions, is that because they were challenged or because he went to RUI? I'd like to think it was because they realised how unfair they were in your case, to redeem my opinion of the police a bit!
If challenged, was that because your solicitor asked for you and the police actually agreed? Was it done straight away or through taking it to magistrates? Sorry for the questions but we're at the 'police said no so next step would be magistrates' point and it would be good to hear how conditions were dropped for people as mostly we read about police refusing!

Thanks Lonelymum, I didn't realise that the police would liaise with ss like this - is that because ss think the police conditions aren't strict enough?
Our son considered challenging his conditions as they were to do with contact and his offending is all internet based and his solicitor pointed out that they have to be appropriate and proportionate. But as expected the police refused so next step would be challenging in court which would cost a lot of money and we worried that then ss might come along and be even more heavy handed.
It works OK as things are as our son lives with us now and we do all the supervising with our grandchildren but it's costing a lot of his savings to fund overnights in hotels. We've written a safety plan to cover if he stayed here overnight so do you think it's worth asking the social worker if it would be good enough and ask her to speak to the OIC who she knows?

Has anyone had good news I know it may be a rarity, but I keep seeing bad news
