Hi, this is my first post as a week ago my partners laptop and phones were seized. As everyone can understand this was a massive shock. He is saying that he was on an app and part of many groups/forums for porn, these images were sent into the groups and as the images come up blurred to begin with he clicked into them but then deleted and reported and scrolled on. I can't get my head around this 'straight laced' man for lack of a better term, not completely freaking out at the mere sight of this and removing himself from these groups. If anyone would have any advice or knowledge around, really how the police even get to the point of seizing devices. What the timeframes are and if the police will give me or his parents are information. He has told me to move on with my life as he doesn't want to burden me with this as solicitors have advised it could be months if not years before charges are brought. I am absolutely heartbroken that this is happening and can't get my head around how we can just be left with so many questions. Of course I want to support the man I built a life with but can I just hold on indefinitely without knowing the full truth. Fyi I am in Northern Ireland so unsure if the process is slower/quicker or if it makes any difference.

Really appreciate the support. Thanks xo

Hi Esme, you may get more replies if you post on the main board. There are some members that are in NI.

Hi Esme - not in NI myself but your wonderings and questions are so similar to practically everyone on here in those first awful days.

I hope someone from NI will come along with specific advice/info/support as I don't know if there are major differences in the legal side of things - but the emotions will be the same so do ask and read on this forum for ongoing support and empathy. We are standing there with you, whether partners, wives, siblings, children or (like me) mums of an offender xxx
