Hi,

First time posting. My dad was trapped by vigilante group. He is old, suffers from mental health issues. He doesn't know even know how to operate mobile properly. Unfortunately one his friends set him up facebook account which led to him sending friend request to the decoy.

It was shock to us. He has been charged for communication etc.

I was wondering as I live with my parents. I take care of them. I heard when the visor(police) come round they search the property. In the house it is me, mum and dad.

Will they be going through my room? Also I have a room which is my office, will they go through that?

My mum is also frustrated as she doesn't want people going through her things etc.

Thanks in advance

The last visit and the very first one they just asked where they could go which was living room we sat they checked his phone had a chat and left probably ten minutes at most

Are you talking about a search before someone has been convicted, or afterwards?

The police normally search for the evidence first, before bringing charges, but you say he has already been charged?

Did the charges arrive through the post? Has he been interviewed by the police? They may feel as if they have enough evidence already, so no need to search the property.

Hi,

We have had the first search, and questioning, charge etc. (That was whole nightmare in itself, as you do not know what is happening and first time in my life police come into the home).

I am talking about after he has been charged and they come around. I read in papers that they find people breaking their shpo finding devices. So I am gussing they search peoples property to find the devices.

Or do the police not search the property, on their regular visit?

They wouldn't do a search, unless they had a reason to be suspicious. They may want to check any devices that he has access to though, inclding shared devices.

Hi bluewindow,

We had VISOR round, and they didn't search the house. They did have a look at my OH's search activity on his tablet and installed tracking hardware on it that will flag up if he starts looking at illegal content. They would need a search warrant to search the property which seems unlikely.
