Help for mental health for offender
Notifications OFF
Does anyone have any ideas of charities or bodies that help offenders with mental health issues? Apparently the person I know rang a well known one and as soon as he said the offence they disconnected the call.
any help would be appreciated

Stop So.
Google them - they are specialists in this area and provide private therapy for offenders and family members. I can personally recommend them xx

My husband was at the start having therapy with a local men's charity he was open and honest with them from the first session and even opened up about stuff from his past then after 3 sessions they decided they could no longer help and would have to wait until after his case is finished to help.
I thought it was a disgrace they did this he found it extremely difficult to open up about his past then when he did they just left him.

We have had a similar situation. My OH had an official PTSD diagnosis but they have said no help available until after the conviction. It's a year and a half so far and although he has done many self help courses, all PTSD treatment has to be put on hold until afterwards. That's what has caused him to offend in the first place, the whole process is properly messed up
It's surely unethical to turn someone away in mental distress because of this? It feels wrong on so many levels! What are they supposed to do then?
thanks for all suggestions I will pass them on.
