Hi all
Its been a long timesince I posted and I was only able to get as far as I have now thanks to the support of this forum.
To recap, I stayed with my other half and whilst I don't condone what he did, the inform course from lucy faithful helped me grasp a different understanding.
Life has changed so much sinced then: i got a puppy and we moved in together and I sold my house and we moved so we could draw a line under what has happened, learn from it and try and build a future.
There are two things really affecting me at the moment.
Two years on, social services have stopped him being able to see his nephews and appear to be unfairly threatening his family and suggesting that he might have done something to them. I understand the need to safeguard but social services response seems latecoming and not in direct proportion to the offence (images and not contact). As a consequence, the relationship with his family has now changed where social services have planted all these doubts in their minds even though they stayed by him and supported him through the court case. This has broken him.
The second thing that is now worrying me is that he is unable to find work. Despite no work restrictions on the SHPO, he has been told by the police/probation that he is not permitted to work in a public facing role such as retail or hospitality. Many of the good companies that help offenders get back on their feet are often public facing. The moment he discloses on jobs, they go silent. We're now at 6 months of him not working and wondering how we're going to survive - new style JSA has stopped and he's not elgible for universal credit because i work.
I haven't slept properly for months worrying about it all - am i going to lose my house? Am I going to find him one day having 'given up'?
He has to see probation weekly now as they consider him a risk because hes not working - yet I am not sure they see the irony of why he can't work.
How have other people coped with similar circumstances?

Hi, my husband lost his job as he was arrested at work, we were extremely frustrated with the police as there was no need to do this as there was no risk to anyone it was just a warehouse job.
my husband has since then trained to become a lorry driver and is much happier in his new role, there was no dbs checks either which made it easier for him. If this is something your partner could do there are a few companies that will pay for the training, and there are lots of jobs in this sector.

My ex has got a job in a warehouse. He had a professional role previously so a complete change for him but he's finding it difficult to find something in his old profession. They didn't ask about convictions.
My ex was able to find a professional remote working role that didn't ask about criminal records. Very fortunate, and many focused days and hours spent searching through loads of listings. He managed to find the job within 2 weeks of release from prison! There are jobs out there that just don't ask at all! What did your ex do pre-knock?

Hi,
Its been months since I've been on here but good to see the forum has picked up. My OH stayed employed by taking in some courier work whilst waiting for the outcome then post sentencing (suspended) he secured work in his professional field with no dbs checks.

If anyone is willing to DM I'd be interested to hear what professional type roles to search for. My person is an engineer but his current company will definitely get rid of him if/when charged as he is DBS checked and enters property including public buildings like schools etc as part of his current role
@inthemoment my OH has gone back into engineering so there are options. He's doing cnc etc for a small company and loves it, it's what he did his apprenticeship in so he's gone back to his roots
The unfortunate issue I've noticed with 'ban the box' appears to be the nature of these offences seems to be exempt in most cases and whilst many employers are declaring it unnecessary to 'tick the box' at application, declaration may be required later in the process.
@SH9231 thanks so much, that gives some hope. I think he'd need to move area of work a bit but it's great to hear there are small companies around
