Hi,
Has anyone used a family law solicitor to help with social services? I feel our social worker is blowing the risk out of all proportion and she's now decided that I'm not fit to supervise contact between my husband and my own kids. She wants to tell the children, and also wants me to nominate a family member so she can assess them to see if she deems them suitable for supervision of contact. This will be so detrimental to our children, I just don't see any way out :(

Hello WhatNow, social workers can be horrible. Our first one was in her early 20s, it was her case so she was very inexperienced. I was told I was not a protective factor. This was purely because I stayed with my husband. I had to prove that I was and it was torture. Our family solicitor despised social work and was constantly helping us fight against them.
Unfortunately with social workers it is not scripted so each has a different opinion and will treat you differently. 2 years in and the social worker left, we were given a new one who was experienced and treated us like humans. Within months she was trying to get our case closed. She asked questions that I had been asking for years. She was excellent. You can ask for a new one but you risk getting someone who is worse.
If it is early days you need to expect a lot of pressure, I cant remember how many times I was reduced to tears. The way it works is you are classed as a high risk and you prove that you are not. Demonstrate you do not condone his behaviour, that you are putting your children first, that you have safeguarding in place. Over time they will lower your risk.
With so many social work negligence cases in the media recently they are really cracking down. Dont let them get to you.
