Apologies if something similar has been asked before. My partner is 'under investigation' currently. He was found in possession of hundreds of Cat A images, children of all ages and collected over several years. The question I want to ask is, do people here think he likely to get a custodial sentence? I've read similar cases have gotten about three years but he claims his solicitor says he will probably just get a caution or community service. Some days I don't know why but I am weighing up whether to stay or go and prison plus longer on the SO register would be too much for me.

It's impossible to say for certain, as everything depends on the judge and how they react on the day.

But a caution is very unlikely, given the category of the images. A three year community order is a possibility, if he can show good evidence for mitigtion and a favourable pre sentence report from probation, although a suspended sentence for two years and 10 years on the SOR is probably more likely.

Hi Lee,

I'm interested in your experience with sentencing, do you track sentencing somehow?

I'm interested for personal and professional reasons I guess!
