Life's building blocks have been crushed

My brother got the "knock" very recently. To say it has been a shock is an understatement.
What I have seen in the last few months is all those big building blocks of his life (marriage, health, family life with children, access to his home, job) being smashed into pieces. And to complicate it all, I am now realising how much of those building blocks were a facade.
What worries me the most is that we are falling ever deeper into an abyss, and the chances of ever rebuilding something which resembles a life are disappearing.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi - yep certainly have........ my son has lost everything. Job, home, family (there's only me he has on the outside willing to support) - he's serving a long prison sentence.
All I can say Auor, take small steps and 'try' to take each day as it comes - at the beginning you can drown in thoughts of there's no hope of a decent future.
As time progresses you build a new life, it reshapes. Don't get me wrong it's not easy but eventually it slowly materialises. I definitely try not to think to deeply about what the future holds.
I feel for you, these thoughts and fears are the pitts. We are here for you if you need any help x

Yes me. My son was arrested in 2021 and recently sentenced. He has lost his marriage, family life with his children, his home and his job. He is able to have supervised contact with his children and fortunately I'm able to supervise this for him. He remains in therapy so I'm hoping his psychotherapist will help him take small steps in the journey he now needs to take in rebuilding his life.
