I was looking through the warrant the police used to enter our home and it states to search for - any digital material, however stored that contains iioc.
Obviously they took things like phones, pc etc.
My question is if they find other things on the phone such as sexual communications via Snapchat can this be used or is it just iioc that can be used ?

Sorry I didn't word the question very well.
I understand that sexual communication is illegal. My question was if they have a warrant that only says they are looking for iioc if they then find sexual communication on the phone can they use that as well ?
I was reading that mistakes are often made with warrants etc and was wondering how you would know about these mistakes and if they could be challenged.

Thanks for the info. I asked him and he thinks he was arrested a second time at the station but can't be sure because he was in such a state following the knock.
The warrant was for iioc so I assume from the intelligence was from the internet provider and the communication was from checking his phone quickly at the station and finding Snapchat messages.
He knows there are iioc on his pc but they were all deleted and not all viewed via a fileshareing server. So all inaccessible but I'm sure still there somewhere. It's the messages that worry him most as he says he can't remember everything that he said anc he talked to lots of girls and not always about sex. He says it was quite graphic but there was no talk of meeting or ever wanting to meet. He never sent any pictures of himself but did send a picture of a naked boy of about 19 anc pretended it was him. A couple of girls sent topless pics but he's worried they'll say he was grooming or inciting which is obviously much worse.
it all seems to depend what they actually class as grooming or inciting and I just don't know.
I was just hoping there was a way to challenge the warrant or maybe something wasn't done correctly as it must happen but I guess I'm clutching at straws
