confusion & 2 different police forces

Hi everyone
my partner was arrested in a town a long way from where we live by a vigilante group, so I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of dealing with 2 police forces and where the court case was actually held?
The 2 police forces are collaborating in the investigation, the police force where we live took our devices so they will be checking them, whilst I presume the police force who arrested him, will press the charges? Our solicitor says it’s a grey area and he doesn’t know where it will be??
(I actually think that neither police force probably want to deal with it and try and pass it to the other!!)
I would be grateful if anyone can help me out

Hi Mabel.
My son was initially arrested in the area we lived in. We moved area after arrest. Unintentionally my son breached his bail and was arrested by the police in the new area we lived in. This meant he was charged by two areas. When it went to court the whole lot was dealt with in the court in the area where he was arrested the first time. I hope it’s the same for you.

My husband was at his mother's when he was arrested and as we were on a trial separation he stated he was living there, which he was at weekends. This is many miles away from where I live and from where he offended. Police travelled miles from where I live to interview him. We were told that they were going to transport him back to where I live and be interviewed here, but in the end my local police interviewed there.
All devices and investigating officer are local to me, so looks like it will be taken to court here. Just hope if it gets reported on, they use his mother's address and his new name when he changes it. Knowing my luck they won't.

Thanks everyone for your replies, yes I just really hope it is away from our town and at the other place if it goes to court, we will see anyway.

It may depend on which kind of court he will go to and if the town is in the same region or not. The region I live in has 2 sheriff courts one for the north and one for the south. If it is a more serious case it goes to the city. I live rather rurally though.
